I have tried the IMX pro and own a GLX and a couple e6x.  I love the GLX the most and will have another one soon.  The  E6x's are specifically for CB and SB and did not want to throw  a lot of money at those techniques.  The IMX is somewhere between the GLX  and the e6x.

This weekend I am going to rig the pro identical to my GLX and make a side by side comparison

I understand that is where Gloomis sees it, but to me it feels like it fits between the GLX and E6X.........just my initial thoughts

Bumping an old post, looking for more feed back on the IMX Pro and I can’t seem to find too much info comparing the two.

@NHBull I’m curious about your final thoughts on the IMX Pro vs GLX. And also what rods in each line you were comparing?

Thanks.

I believe Tackle Tour is going to do a review of some of them any week now.  I have not gotten to fish the Pros yet, but did get to handle a few at a store.  They seem well balanced and light in the hand.  At a quick look over the build quality was good with not flaws to be found in the three that I looked at.

The price point is a killer for me though.  At around $350 msrp they are so close to the GLX that it seems silly to not just save up another 50-100 bucks.  If the new Orochi XX line is still at $300 I don't see myself getting too excited about the IMX Pros unless they come down in price.

Thanks, I’ll keep my eyes open for that review. Yeah, I’m not going to pay MSRP for the IMX, especially after I scored a like-new GLX MBR 844c for less than that not too long ago. I’ve used utilized the used market and taken advantage of sales for a lot of my gear. I just wanted to get opinions on the IMX Pro as I can score a new one for $200 shipped to my door.

I have a few of the "amateur" IMXs and if the Pros only just as good as they are, I would pay $200 for on in a heartbeat.  The one I have my eye on are the 820S DSR Spinning Rod, which, if it's like the Mag-Light/XF IMX I have, could be a great ned rig rod.

I have fished the vast majority of rods near the 200 price point (because this is about as high as my budget allows me to go on a rod) and I can safely say the IMXs I have fished bests them all in sensitivity (I just don't care for the super fast actions of the pro line).

Thanks for the feedback on the IMX @PatrickKnight. The GLX is the nicest rod I own, just a little out of my range unless they show up on the secondhand market for “cheap”. Anyone else have experience with the IMX Pro?
