Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted May 9, 2017 Global Moderator Posted May 9, 2017 18 footer and probably camping or sleeping in the truck or boat....we dont have a lot of money You have a year to save as much money as you can and collect all the cans along side the road ( if your state has deposits on cans). Great idea and I wish you safe travels in your adventure. I wish I would've thought about a trip like that when I was a senior. Quote
Turner9087 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 we are planning on taking i-20 to dallas then hitting i-30 to to little rock and hitting i-40 to memphis to i-22 back to birmingham so any lakes along the way we would be willing to stop at no more than 15 miles off the interstate though we are willing to travel a little more for lakes that have monster bass Quote
Hog Basser Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 18 footer and probably camping or sleeping in the truck or boat....we dont have a lot of money Perfect. Look for state parks with marinas and boat ramps....a few in Arkansas to check out include: Ouachita (mentioned above) Dardanelle (lots of tournaments fished here) Beaver (Northwest AR, maybe a little out of the way, but great lake) DeGray Bull Shoals There is also a pay lake (minimal charge) with camping around Stuttgart/Devall's Bluff in the eastern delta of Arkansas I would recommend called Peckerwood Lake - google it and look up the facebook page for more info and pics...this would be a more unique experience from the big lakes. It is a 4,000 acre private lake. Bass grow big in the delta, I fish around that area a lot on some other private lakes not open to the public. we are planning on taking i-20 to dallas then hitting i-30 to to little rock and hitting i-40 to memphis to i-22 back to birmingham so any lakes along the way we would be willing to stop at no more than 15 miles off the interstate though we are willing to travel a little more for lakes that have monster bass Peckerwood Lake is between Little Rock and Memphis just south of the Interstate, seriously, look it up. Kidflex Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 While your on I-20 in Louisiana, you can stop and fish caddo lake on the LA/TX border. Really good fishing. Beautiful scenery too. Prol the best you'll see on your journey. Quote

Turner9087 Posted May 10, 2017 Author Posted May 10, 2017 Y'all are all probably adults and are better at this than me but how much would it cost us in food for 3 weeks per person if we don't eat out a lot Also I have heard that the road between little rock and Memphis is really rough can anyone confirm this Quote

Hog Basser Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Do you happen to know the fee for peckerwood I couldn't find it Ok we will check it out thank you It is minimal, I think less than $10 per person at Herman's Landing. Y'all are all probably adults and are better at this than me but how much would it cost us in food for 3 weeks per person if we don't eat out a lot Also I have heard that the road between little rock and Memphis is really rough can anyone confirm this The road isn't that bad. Depends on what construction is going on, I think there is more construction closer to Memphis, but I don't usually go that far. I would seriously put together a food plan and budget for everything on this trip so you aren't short-handed. You can go cheap by packing coolers with sandwich meats and taking loaves of bread and chips along. Figure out your cost for the items you want to take and round up a little bit if you have to re-buy along the road and prices are different. Pack a big water cooler so you don't have to buy a lot of bottled water along the way and refill bottles from it. You will also want to budget fuel carefully. Quote

Hog Basser Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 When you going? I'm interested to see the results, take plenty of pics! Quote
bagofdonuts Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Another couple of areas to check out between Little Rock and Memphis is lower Arkansas River near Pendleton, AR little south of I-40. You have some big backwater areas there (coal pile, merisach lake) that are loaded with big bass. You can also check out the lower white river, tons and tons of little horseshoe lakes (1/2 of which are named horseshoe lake). 1 Quote
nocluefisher Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Peanut butter and jelly will be your best friend. Eating can be really cheap if you are not picky. Quote
