This is in effort to keep people from completely making a dock unfishable by having half a dozen poles in the water in all directions. Similarly, in a boat, some may troll with multiple poles, like for crappie fishing, but only two are allowed to be fished at a time. At least that is how I have understood it when it was explained to me here in VA (though there is no "two pole license" here). A quick Google yielded this from Washington State: The total cost for the two-pole endorsement is $14.80 ($6.00 for seniors) which includes a surcharge, and transaction and dealer fees. Anglers may buy an endorsement for a second fishing pole at an authorized license dealer or online at fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov. All fishing rules and regulations still apply. See the Fishing in Washington pamphlet. Anglers with a valid two-pole endorsement may use up to three hooks on each line. 1 Quote

And I saw "reduced fee" for those 65 and older... Yeah, I know, I'm an east-coaster. Just trying to help a little Probably better from all the awesome California guys on the forum! 1 Quote

Thanks Darren for the assist, that's what makes the Forums a great resource. halochef, the "Second-Rod Sport Fishing Validation" is currently $14.61. When it originally started, I want to say it cost $7.50 and was a "stamp" afixed to your license. I really appreciated having the stamp when still fishing from shore with little ones 1 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Not sure what it's like in other states but California is one person/one rod. You can't bring like ten rods, bait up each rod, set down ten rod holds, and cast them all in the water at the same time and let them soak. The two rod stamp lets you have a second line in the water - usually if you're baitfishing where you can either have two poles in the water soaking bait, or, can have one pole soaking bait while you work another pole with lures. Note that there are exceptions where even with the two rod stamp, you still can only fish one rod so check regulations for where you're going. Quote
halochef Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 ok i think i have it i can bring 4 rods baited up but can only use 1 at a time. correct? being from Pa. never had a rule like this had a trout stamp but thats all i remember. Quote
Caliyak Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 The cost for the license is your left arm, you right foot, kidney and an ear. And it's only good until December. Quote

Correct, if you buy the two pole licence which is $10 or $15 more (I think $10) then you can have two rods in the water Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 11, 2017 Super User Posted May 11, 2017 2018 the license will be annual From the date of purchase, currently Jan 1 to Dec 31 regardless of purchase date. 2017 fishing lic was $66.76 with 2nd rod stamp and ocean. Tom 1 Quote
