Just checked out my local Gander, discounts were only 10% for most fishing stuff. I was told they'll probably increase to max 30% around August.

They're still keeping quite a few stores open, despite going into chapter 11 bankruptcy.  Not sure how that works, but here's a link to a list of stores staying open. https://mobile.twitter.com/GanderMtn

Not according to this new article.

Under the latest move, the company said on its website that all 126 stores will close, including locations in Gastonia and Monroe. It wasn’t immediately clear when that would happen.

I did some looking around online, and found reports of all stores closing to only half of the stores closing, and everything in between.  The only thing everyone agreed on was that camping world bought out gander mountain on Friday (who filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy) and somewhere between 50% and 100% of the stores are closing.

My local gander already has a sign advertising closing sales, and that store is listed as on of the stores staying open on twitter, so I suspect that may not be an accurate list.

The emails I got the last couple days say ALL stores closing.  Check the online site.  It says the same thing.  Went to one in Winchester VA yesterday.  Got a gallon of Lucas 2-stroke oil for 20% off.  Rods and reels are only 10% off, tackle is 15% off, and marine goods are 20% off.

I imagine the Salisbury, MD store will stay open.  It seems to be busier that most of the other GM stores I have visited.  The closest one to me, York, PA, looks to be staying open above.

At the very least, every single location is liquidating inventory.  Imprecise language has created a ton of conflicting stories.  Check the news that is featuring Marcus Lemonis' twitter.  Lemonis' claims that many stores will remain open is firsthand news from ownership - for the time being, can't trust anything over that in my opinion.

Also should mention, the most recent email I got (this morning) was titled "Liquidation prices!  Preparing for the new Gander Mountain."

Spot on. I used to work in retail sporting goods. All our clothing was at least 100% markup.

wonder if I worked at the same one....

did it go out of business last year, by any chance?

nike and under armor were the real reason it died....we sold our collective souls to them.

They are all liquidating due to the bankruptcy. Not all stores are closing. Ours is one that will remain open.

I was gonna do the same thing in sales and deals and ironically mine 15minutes away closed down almost a year ago cause lease issue so Sunday km driving 40 minutes away hoping to find some things I know the old. One near me sold everything even the mounts ha

Are you talking about the Chambersburg one? The Sportsmans Liquidators close so if GM goes I may not have any reason to cross into PA.

I went to the Portage, Mi store yesterday. It is closing.  most fishing stuff is 10-15% off right now.

The website says "Gift Cards accepted until 5/18".  Is that May 18 of this year?  Or is that May of 2018?

According the rather large graphic when you first go to their site it states all of their stores are closing.

So far no one seems to know. They are liquidating inventory, but from the news reports even the employees haven't been told yet.

I called my local Gander and they couldn't tell me whether they were staying open or not, but did mention that there is a big "Going Out of Business" banner across the front entrance.

This location literally just opened 8 months ago. I don't know what could possibly go into that building.. a pretty unique structure, like when mom and pop shops move their store into defunct pizza huts.

This is just a restructuring of the company by the new owners, Camping World. They purchased basically everything except the inventory. The inventory was bought by a liquidation company, this is their sale, not Ganders. Liquidation will run until a certain date (I have heard end of August) or until inventory runs out. The stores will then close and the stores that "make the cut" will eventually reopen with new inventory, same type of selection. So yes technically all of the stores are closing, but some will be reopened.
