Fishin' Fool Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 When you fish a walk the dog top water bait is the mechanics the same as fishing a jerkbait? Quote
jr231 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Snaps down with some slack to the bait. Yes I fish a jerkbait this retrieve also... Back and forth. Really awesome .I like the skitter walk, rapalas spook 3 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted May 6, 2017 Super User Posted May 6, 2017 Similar slack-line snap, but smaller and more rhythmic with walkers, bigger and more erratic with pauses for the jerkbait. 3 Quote

That makes sense. I watched KVD fish a jerkbait on Wired two fish yesterday and for the first time the mechanics of fishing a jerkbait made sense. Quote

I agree... If im fishing in colder water ! My warm water jerkbait success is usually with a much quicker series of snaps. Alot of people don't use jerkbaits in summer.... Idk why .. But the same motions , or as you put "mechanics " 1 Quote
jr231 Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 You know that "live target" sunfish.. with the big ugly weight on the bottom ? Easiest bait I've ever walked ! Snap, snap, snap , back and forth each time. Quickly ! Only have one fish on it but it was a decent one and in all honesty don't throw it. Too many baits. Always using new stuff..and somehow most of it works ! That's what I love about bass fishing ! Quote
