Watermelon magic is one of Zoom's best colors for clear to slightly stained water imo.

I use trick worms a lot on shaky head jigs and Texas rigs. They also work great rigging weightless & weedless. I like to rig them with a 5/0 EWG superline hook to give them a little weight, but not too much. They work well slow falling around weedlines & sparse grass.

Zoom trick worm is my most productive bait.

I fish them everywhere (disclaimer: I live in FL, so my conditions are probably very different). Shallow or weedy areas on a light texas rig (1/16-1/8 oz bullet weight, usually on a 1/0-2/0 offset worm hook). The light texas rig allows you to fish it on top of weeds, about the same as a weightless bait. I know a few guys in my area that fish them weightless, but they use light gear to do that.

But lately I've just fished it almost exclusively on a drop shot. Normal style drop shot or rigged weedless again on a 1/0-2/0 offset worm hook. You can fish it super slow, super fast, just drag it slow/fast, fast jerks, infrequent little twitches in which the drop shot doesn't even move... there's almost no wrong way as long as you let it settle to the bottom once in a while. If you see a fish bed, just drop it in there and wait. The fish seem to slowly get mad and hit it after 30-60 seconds.

By the way, those Amazon prices look inflated. They are usually sold at Walmart for like $4.00 (maybe less, I can't remember). There are also two different versions: original and super salt. I prefer the super salt on these rigs. The original version is better for shaky head, which I rarely use.

Your color looks fine. My personal favorites are green pumpkin, watermelon red, and junebug.

I'll be fishing it in river colored water. it's probably 2 foot visibility. Is that water too stained for this color? I had a hard time deciding on a color, they have a ton.

You might be ok with that color. If the water starts getting too stained or muddy, I usually switch to darker colors like junebug or black with red glitter.

I've used them for a bunch of stuff, they're pretty versatile. Drop shot, shakeyhead, light t-rig, finesse carolina rig.

My favorite for shaky head. I go for watermelon and green pumpkin in water that has decent visibility. For stained I have had my best luck on a dark brown with red flake (ox blood?) Black/blue is always good for stained water also.

I like using trick worms weightless Texas style with a 3/0 gama skipgap hook. Throw it out and let it sit for a while. Usually by the time I pick up the worm the line is moving and I set the hook. Other times I'll keep working it like a soft jerkbait

Wacky rigged and flick shake. Any of the magic colors are great. My favorite all around color is the green pumpkin magic. These and the finesse worms are the best for wacky rigging. You will catch fish all day long with a wacky rigged trick worm.

I just bought some zoom trick worms in watermelon magic on amazon and am curious what everyones experiences are fishing these along with advice on:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Z7S28K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

1. Where to fish them

2. How to Fish them

3. How to rig them

4. Did I choose a productive color

I hope you didn't pay $10 for a pack of 20 like that link advertises.

they can be found much much cheaper than that

That does not mean that Amazon is overpriced on all of their zoom products.  They were selling 20 packs of the Centipede not too lon ago for like $1.60 a pack.  I bought the max they would allow, which I think was 4.

Just like everything else - try to check prices in a few spots before pulling the trigger

First time I ever seen a Wacky rigged worm was a Trick Worm, 30 years later I still Wacky rig em.

Another deadly technique is to Texas rig em weightless & add a 3/4-1" paneling to the tail. This cause the worm to fail horizontal instead of nose down.

Colors: watermelon neon, camouflage, gooseberry, green flash,  sprayed grass, red bug shad.

Huge Tip ;)

1. Where to fish them: Anywhere there are bass.

2. How to Fish them: Weighted, weightless, doesn't matter. Throw at laydowns, under docks, and so forth. As with all soft plastic techniques, patience is key. Some days bass hit them right away, some days a sloooow drag along the bottom works best (Texas rig), other days deadsticking (just leaving it where you cast)...

3. How to rig them: Wacky, Texas, drop shot, etc. Very versatile bait. There are videos here and on YouTube for how to rig them for these techniques.

4. Did I choose a productive color: Absolutely yes, at least in my waters. One of my favorite colors.

And welcome to the forums!

I just got into Trick worms this season and already am having great luck with them.  For colors I am trying to limit myself to only a few from each "category", so for now I just fish following;

  • Original (floating)
    • Bubble Gum and Motor Oil/Chart tip
    • Fished on a shakyhead, light t-rig
    • Nico/Chicken rigged on a 2/0 straight shank worm hook with a 1/16oz weight
  • Super Salt (slow sinking)
    • Baby Bass and Green Pumpkin Magic
    • Weightless on a 2/0 or 3/0 straight shank or offset Owner/Troker worm hook, fished like a fluke
    • Wacky on a 2/0 straight shank or lightly weighted wacky hook

It is hard to resist all the colors they have, but so far I have been strong.
