Super User Hooligan Posted May 4, 2017 Super User Posted May 4, 2017 Anyone played with the new stuff? I'm curious to hear your results. As anyone that has ever read anything I've ever posted I'm an avowed hater of braid in general, almost refusing to fish it. That said, this stuff is something different! Super body, excellent castability and smooth, supple behaviour I've not experienced. Wondering if my results are the norm, or the exception. Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 welcome to the dark side. You just described every quality braid I've ever fished. Quote
Smelter96 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I use and like it. Have 50lb and 40lb on 2 setups. I had some 20# on a light baitcaster that seemed to have a defect where the braid was actually frayed slightly. It broke while casting in the yard (luckily), and at a small tug. I have had ZERO issues besides that one spool. Love it on my other 2 setups. I think next time ill try something different though, even if it was a fluke. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted May 4, 2017 Super User Posted May 4, 2017 Its pretty good. A little loud if i recall and bleeds easily. Prefer smackdown but its expensive Quote

Nothing like any braid I've ever fished. It's better than Samurai for body, more supple than 832, and casts better than any other braid I've fished, period. I prefer fluorocarbon for 99% of my subsurface presentations, and likely always will, but this stuff S pretty decent. 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted May 4, 2017 Super User Posted May 4, 2017 I have them in 20lb dark green on my 3 spinning and 30lb chartreuse color on my chronarch 50e. They are pretty soft, castable and quiet compare to PP, but the faded so fast my white chronarch become green-yellow and the dark green look like white braid now. I think I will go back to PP for now, already order 30lb to replace the one on chronarch. 1 Quote
Yudo1 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 It's pretty supple and fairly quiet through guides. My only complaint is how much it bleeds. 1 Quote
nascar2428 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I concur with the bleeding issue, I have some of the hi vis. Once it was finished bleeding, it was still much more visible than super 8 or 832 after they fade. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted May 4, 2017 Super User Posted May 4, 2017 Probably the best bang for the buck braid out right now. It's an 8 carrier and you get 330 yards of it for $20. I've been using it for about 2yrs now. I was an avid 832 fan before that. I still like 832 but for $10 less I can get something that's just as good. strong, supple, cheap, and quiet. I have it on 6 reells and oddly enough I have had no issues with it bleeding or fading out really bad. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted May 4, 2017 Super User Posted May 4, 2017 Timely. Limited selection. Very cheap at Dicks....I just put some in my DSG cart. Don't tell @John Loughlin....I'm experimenting with the cheap stuff 1 Quote
Finnz922 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Using 30lb X4 in yellow. I sprayed some WD40 on a rag and ran the line through it when I spooled up. Haven't noticed any bleeding in a few outings. So far I really like it. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 5, 2017 Super User Posted May 5, 2017 I have some of the 8lb chartreuse on my finesse spinning reel and so far I like it. I have 15lb Suffix 832 on my other spinning reel so I can compare them a bit. The J-braid is far smoother to the touch and is incredibly quieter on both the cast but especially the retrieve. Knot strength seems good, tied to a 8lb floro leader I was able to drag in a very large branch into retrieve a lure and I was amazed how hard I was able to pull. I have fished it on some super windy days and only got a single wind knot, but it pulled out very easily. Casting distance is great and feels like I can get as far (a fence section in my yard) with a lot less effort than it took to get there with straight 8lb floro. The only downside is the bleed. I mainly care because I switched back to braid because I fish a ton of weightless plastics on my spinning combos and I was having trouble seeing the floro lines I had switched too. It also stains really fast, I fish a very tannic pond and the first 20' feet of my line are taking on a brownish cast to it. I am going to try using a bright green sharpie to touch it up, as I really like it otherwise. Quote
