A possible change in the zinkerz's formula

I just got three packs of zinkerzs in the mail today, and when I opened them up and stretched the salt out i noticed that there seems to be a much lower salt content.  All of the packs were this way, they all had substantially less salt in them than my other bags.  Does anyone know if zman changed the salt content in the zinkerz?  I hope I just got a bad batch, they were softer before.

I got some within the past week... Softest stickbait I own by a long shot. They saved me from a skunk today too. 

 

If you're stretching all the salt out of them.. what does it matter how much is in there to begin with ?

They are still the softest stick bait I have ever felt, but they aren't as soft as my other packages have been.  The more salt there is in the bait originally, the more holes in the soft plastic once the salt dissolves, which makes them softer.

Yep, tried them wacky rigged, t-rigged, and on a shaky head but I prefer other baits for those techniques.  I still probably go through 12+ packs a year even though they don't tear, thanks to unseen snags underneath docks in deeper water than I would like to swim in.

Yea I don't like the action wacky rigged either. I was catching em today t rigged weightless ! They didn't really quiver like a senko but they would dart around like a fluke. 

 

I was bank fishing and hooked one on a thorn and was fighting to get it off and it easily stretched to over a foot lol. Pretty cool stuff. 

 

I have so much tackle and so little time I never get to use it all... I like em tho and I'm going to try them on a dropshot

I haven't tried them on a Carolina rig yet, partially because I can't stand throwing one.  Would much rather drag a football jig or something instead.

 

Have you noticed any difference in the salt content of zinkerzs recently?

I haven't but our lakes have been so muddy this spring that I haven't hardly thrown one.

I just got one bag yesterday will compare it for you.

I lost a whole bunch of Zman too but to brush, tree and rock. The plastic is so durable even after snag to a tree pull it out bend the hook, it is still look as good if it were Senko it would have tear in half.

Okay just came back home from fishing, caught 2 on Drop shot with Z-man 3" grub.

Now about zinkerz, I check the fall rate between the one from yesterday and my old bag about 2 months ago. It is actually the same fall rate, stretch and cut half the new one and plenty of salt in there.

Thanks for the reply's, I must have just got a batch that didn't have as much salt as normal, cause the amount of salt is definitely a lot lower.  I tested the sink rates to and they mostly floated right out of the package or barely sank, instead of sinking fairly fast.

You'll be fine...I told Z-Man to start sending you their defects to slow down your catch rates a little  The new ones should work ALMOST as well - lol.

I'm sure these will work just as well, just found it interesting and was wondering if they had changed it on purpose.

think it this way, you don't have to prep to make zinkerz float. Lol

 

everytime I use new zinkerz on my shaky head, I have to prep it by fish it wacky/Texas rig until it start to float then save that for my shaky head.

I think he might catch more fish with that floating zinkerz.lol
