Super User fishwizzard Posted May 2, 2017 Super User Posted May 2, 2017 I use KVD Line Conditioner on all my non-braid reels, a heavy application while spooling up, then a good spray the night before I take a reel out. I have a pair of UL/L spinning combos that I really only use for perch and panfish. I only fish for them every few months and the difference in line behavior (I have used YZH, Treline XL, Stren Mono, and a few cheap floros) is huge when I spray it the night before compared to when I don't. I fished 17lb stren and line conditioner really improved the efficiency of a really stiff line. Don't use on braid it will wash the color out of the line in a hurry. Line and lure, "braid aid conditioner", or straight up silicone spray won't wash way the coating. Just the opposite actually. I have a reel with red PP that's been spooled for 4 seasons and has lost little color. Reel magic on the other hand will as its a solvent that's petroleum based. Quote
MDbassin Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I'm a fan of reelsnot myself and it's not needed but after fishing a couple times without it the using it on my sunline sniper I would say it's necessary it really does help 1 Quote
jtesch Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 KVD L&L for sure, I really think it helps on FC and mono quite a bit. I use it on braid at times but really don't need to. Reel magic is good for 1 thing. It keeps guides from iceing up in winter weather. I tried Ardents line conditioner once and it was like dipping my reels in bacon fat. I had to break down every reel and give them a complete cleaning. It even made it to the spool bearings, total mess Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 3, 2017 Super User Posted May 3, 2017 I use KVD Line and Lure rebelliously, there is no smell or residue at all. It really does make your line a lot more manageable. I spray 3 to 6 sprays on my spool twice a trip. For the first application on new line, you do need to let it sit for at least 12 hours though. It is harmless on a reel and I even used it as a temporary lube once when a reel was making noise and it worked. Quote
Yudo1 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I use kvd line & lure on my fluoro set ups and it works. Quote
