I bought the striker 7sv last week, installed, everything works until I go over 10mph then the fishfinder and depth do not work. It starts to blink and nothing reads except temp, cords and speed. Any suggestions on what to do ?

Post a picture of the install.   I had the same problem with a Helix and had to put in a Y cable and separate transducer epoxied inside the hull to pick up depth when I was up on the pad.

Not a bad transducer or bad placement. Any side imaging or down imaging transducer will lose bottom  contact around 8-10mph. If you want to see depth while you're running you will need a y cable and run a high speed (2d sonar) transducer along with the side imaging one.

That is a false statement. Any transducer that has a 2D crystal and is a transom type will give depth readings at speed if it is installed so it can.

Another vote for improper transducer mounting.

If it's not reading when you get on top then you have to move the transducer down a little, is it a transum mount or innhull? if it's a transum mount you have to move it down towards the water because when you're runnin its not in the water and it can't read.

I'm not sure what type it is or how to tell. I'm trying to get a pic up if it. I installed it myself and just put it where the old lowrance 4 transducer was

The Lowrance transducer and the Garmin transducer are different with different mounts.

You have to install the one you are using for its best performance, not like one you are not using.

It did come with installation instructions, didn't it????

this is the type transducer it is. it is toward the bottom of the hull but not under the boat it comes up right even at the bottom

I use the same transducer on my Garmin. The bottom of the transducer should be positioned slightly below the bottom of the boat. I can read the bottom clearly at full speed in 2D mode without any additional transducers needed.

ok so I just need to move it down slightly and tilt it?

It should have come with instruction we just installed the garmin striker 4.5 on my lil boat and it said take a piece of board or a level and put it on the bottom of the hull and let it stick out towards the transom and where the Top of the board is is where you're transducer should go but my transducer was diffrent I have the dual band and it's shaped like a box so idk, if anything just keep moving it down until it will read mine will read goin full speed, keep playing with it you'll figure it out good luck man ;)

Here is the instructional graphic from the Garmin transducer installation instructions on locating the transducer.

Thanks for the help! that's where it is at too and it wont read over 10mph.Ill try moving it down some and see if that works, also would manually setting the gain or range have an effect on it at all? Any tips on how to get the picture to load? it just keeps saying its too big to upload

Download an image editor like Irfanview on your computer and use the edit option to resize until it's under whatever size limits this forum has (sorry, I'm not sure what they are).  Save the picture and then you should be able to upload.
