I'm not sure what make or brand or even what era it's from. Unmarked and has the signs that it was heavily fished at some point in time. What I found interesting was it actually has fins. It's really weird feeling in hand. Almost feels like it would stick to the wall if you threw it. I was looking at the following image and thought about the potential for old lures or just modern lures as desktop wallpaper....Hmm I think next time I visit him I'll have to find something better as a backdrop and keep the wallpaper potential in mind. Never really gave lure posing a thought. @kenmitch, after seeing your post I thought you might appreciate the photos below. Haven’t thrown it in a while, but it is a treasured lure of mine. As I was typing this, I realized my personal best was caught on an AC Minnow... Good fishing in 2019, JB 3 Quote

My tomorrows photo looks similar to it. Quote
kenmitch Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 I guess this is what they mean when they say throw big baits for big fish! I don't remember seeing any markings on this one. Looks kind of big for bass. Maybe used for Pike or giant Stripers? 3 Quote
Russ E Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 It was bound to happen eventually. Winter finally found Kansas. Glad I don't have tickets to the Chiefs/Colts game. Watching the game from home, works fine for me. 4 Quote

They still make them, not sure if they make them in that color, and they've been revamped a bit, but really sure that's what it is. Nearly 8 inches of the white stuff fell at our house Friday into Saturday. The first real snow since my boys were old enough to enjoy it and they really did enjoy it. 10 Quote

I was leaning towards a Castaic Trout, but was unsure as I couldn't find any markings on that one when looking at it. He does have some other Castaic swimbaits that are clearly marked. Here's another pretty one to look at. It's from the 30's at the latest? He doesn't want me to name who it once belonged to in a public forum, but it was someone who died a long time ago and was a pioneer in the industry. I was most likely only the 2nd person who set eye's on it from the time it was packaged at the factory. 4 Quote

They came in 6, 8 and 10" the 8 being the most common. The internal frame is expanded foam instead of the usual lead casting. We used to use them a lot for pike. They got pulled apart eventually, but we're tremendous catchers. Quote

Almost certain it's lead in there as I remember mentioning to my brother it looked to have a metal cage holding the eyes and hook. Definitely fragile as it has some tearing around the line eye. 1 Quote
kenmitch Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 I should have posted this one around the holidays. It's a .75g gold nugget. I call it little bear as it reminds me of a bear. There's actually a ear under the hat but it's the only quick access image I have of the nugget currently. This one as it's lunchtime somewhere in the world currently. 7 Quote
Russ E Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Local lake after this weekends snowstorm. unfortunately one of the few Lakes around here that is closed to fishing in the winter. All I can do is enjoy the view and wait for first weekend of march. 3 1 Quote

kenmitch Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Ultra rare photo of ME and the 1st Bass I caught after decades of non fishing! Early April of 2017. I didn't have a scale at the time but it probably around 2lbs. According to lakesonline.com the current water level is 22ft above my head. A couple weeks later I caught a much better one from roughly the same spot. I still hadn't purchased a scale yet. There was literally nobody around to take a photo of me and the bigger girl. She doesn't look all that big in the one handed photo. Bad angle makes her look skinny. I'm really glad I at least though about placing her next to the bucket! You wouldn't even think she was that big by the one armed photo. She's touching the ground and the edge of the bucket. Bucket I believe is 15" tall. I figure she was a around a 5lb'r. I look forward to catching her again some day as she's still roaming the waters as far as I know. 7 Quote

Way north bass guy Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 Take this time to enjoy the “lack” of words. If they’re anything like my son, once they learn to talk, they never, ever, EVER stop. Quote

My son is 5, very capable of talking, but he's really into dinosaurs though so I get a lot of roars, growls, and other guttural noises. I think it's concerning the dogs a bit. 1 Quote
