Glad you didn’t have any serious problems. Not sure about in the states but here in Canada there’s a note on pretty much any bill from any mechanic to retighten your lugnuts after 100km. 

It’s especially bad with aluminum wheels, every year when I put my summer tires back on my truck, even after torquing it properly, the nuts always loosen off. This year, I only went about 20km down the road and I could hear the telltale vibrations (kinda sounds like the tires are out of round), and had to stop to re torque them. They should be checked and retightened EVERY TIME you ever change a tire.

Definitely this. Steel wheels aren’t so bad but aluminum wheels need checked after 50-100 miles. I neglected once in my old car, luckily I got where I was going but they had loosened up pretty bad!

Labbos is ready for her maiden voyage. The structure is in and the deck cut out. No hatches yet or covering, though I have painted the ply with polyester resin as it dries quickly and does a good job of waterproofing the wood. Tomorrow morning I'll give her a run and see how we're doing for weight distribution and general stability.

Just back in from the test run. All went very well. The boat was stable enough, balanced fine and planed out easily. A great success. I can get on with building the hatches and putting in seats etc now knowing I'm not completely wasting my time! First boat trip for the black dog too. Petrified at first, but quite enjoyed it in the end.

Beautiful work Tim. Mine will never make it to looking that nice, it was never meant to though. It's for going to the bad places I don't want to take the bass boat to.

 

 

@NHBull I had a shop that shall remain nameless, cough, Midas, cough, put new back brakes on my S-10 when I was in my mid 20's. Drove off and it was driving really rough. Called my then girlfriend and said something, she said to call them and ask what the deal was. They told me the brakes would have to wear in a little, but I told them they shouldn't be wearing in while I wasn't braking. I was actually going to turn in my application for the department I'm at now. When The vibration just kept getting worse, and I'd planned to just drive back to the shop so they could try again, when I turned into the parking lot, my back end slid like I hit an ice patch. I limped into a parking spot and got out to take a look. I had a single lug nut barely holding onto what was left of the last couple threads, all the other holes were wallowed out from the wheel flopping around. I'm a calm person, but I chewed that shop owners backside for probably 10 minutes about how close he just got to killing me and maybe someone else, and at the end he wouldn't even refund me because he was "Barely breaking even after having to replace the wheel and tire and pay for a rental". That line earned him another 5 minutes or so of ranting about how if they'd done it right the first time, they wouldn't have to be doing any of it. I can feel my blood pressure raising even now. All the dangerous situations I go through and a guy with an impact wrench almost did me in.

Several days ago a bird hit one of the windows.  Went outside and looked on the ground expecting it to be dead.  Looked over and saw it in a bush about 10' from the house.  It looked as if it was seeing stars and I had time to go back in the house and get my little Kodak digital camera.  Was able to get quite close to obtain a good shot.  I think the bird is ok, since I looked later and saw it was gone and noticed at least 4 male orioles flying to our humming bird feeders.

I put a few of these wipers in our tiny little pond a couple years ago, never expecting them to survive, but when I drove the whole family back to the pond to feed the fish and toss my throw net a few times to see what had survived the winter, I got a big surprise when this guy was stuck in my net. Not only surviving, but appeared to be thriving. I also netted a large gizzard shad, so he had at least one more big meal swimming around in there for him as well as several 6-8 inch crappie. Lake was really excited about the big "Fwhopper" as he calls any big fish.

That’s funny because my son calls any big bass a bacon. I’m not sure how he made that connection but it cracked me up when I caught a 3 pounder and he was just around yelling daddy caught a bacon ?

That’s what I thought to but he said no, he was saying bacon. He tells me every time I ask that he is going to call a big fish a bacon. Crazy kid, he cracks me up ?

My wife and boys went on a farm tour today, several local farms open up to the public so you can see how they work and help folks get an appreciation for how much work goes into getting their food from the farm to their table. One of the farms they went to raised Hereford cows. My wife loves cows so she was happy to get to pet several and so was Lake. He also got to learn a hard lesson that you don't run up behind a cow, which he was told not to do several times but he's about as hard headed as his mom is ? Didn't really hurt him, just scared him about as much as anything that an animal that seems so big and slow can move that fast when they want to.
