Tim Kelly Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Just back from a trip to my friend Tim's place in Virginia on Smith Mountain Lake. We had a great time, though were frustrated by the fishing at times! Had a half day charter for stripers as well which was fun, though the biggest largemouth and smallmouth we saw all week couldn't resist the trolled shad, stupid fish! 10 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 21, 2018 Super User Posted April 21, 2018 Guy laid down his motorcycle into the side of my truck at 7:30 this morning. No one hurt. No motorcycle cert on his DL and no insurance. He was enrolled in riding classes and practicing to take his driving test. I was sitting at an intersection in the left lane with my signal on waiting for him to pass. He decided to turn right and lost control of it. Cop gave him 2 tickets. Maybe God was telling him something. I'm not a happy camper since I have to claim this and pay the $500 deductible. 2 13 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 Signs of spring, a new bike and helmet for the kid, and dad finally gets to bring the boat down from the shop into the garage to start rigging for next weekend. 7 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted April 21, 2018 Super User Posted April 21, 2018 @Way north bass guy I've got some signs of spring from my own area. 5 Quote

That’s where we’d be if we didn’t get this last ice storm, but it’s supposed to be pretty warm here all this week so hopefully Mother Nature starts to go into overdrive to make up ? 1 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted April 26, 2018 Global Moderator Posted April 26, 2018 Another sign of spring here. Picture quality isn't the greatest but if you look closely you can see two little chicks. We happened upon them at a pond just down the road from us. I've never seen their chicks before. 5 Quote

Super User Scott F Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 The weather is finally getting nice so the wife and I were going to cook out on the grill for the first time this season. When we opened the grill, this is what we saw. There was even a little blue egg in the middle of the nest. I guess I ruined some birds day. 4 1 Quote

Way north bass guy Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 Went to check out the ramp today for ice, all good to launch tomorrow ( finally). There is the usual “winter fatalities” that we’ll have to watch out for but that’s no different than any other spring once the ice finally leaves. Just gotta take it easy for a while, especially when there’s a chop on the water to hide stuff until it’s too late. 4 Quote

I have to claim this and pay the $500 deductible. Just because he doesn't have insurance doesn't mean he isn't liable for the damage. It may be too late, but rather than make the claim to your insurance company, you can make the demand for the cost of the repair directly to him (in writing). If he refuses to pay or claims he doesn't have the money, take it to small claims. His wages can be attached or his property (such as his motorcycle) could be forfeited. I don't mean to sound like a cold-hearted jerk, but it bothers me to see someone like yourself, following the rules and having done nothing wrong, be out $500 bucks and have your insurance rates increased. Meanwhile, he shirks the responsibility of his actions and then goes on to do it to someone else. At the very least, have him pay the $500 deductible. I'll get off my soapbox now...? 2 Quote
