We did clams, mussels, calamari, octopus. I made a lobster mac n cheese. my son made a crawfish Rangoon. Cannoli's, pizzelle's, and biscoti, for desert.

No pasta this year. Now that mom is gone, no one wants to take the time to make lasagna or manicotti.

Are you in the Philippines currently? You survived the typhoon?

My father, my niece and I are the only seafood eaters in the family. Looks like next year we need to take a flight out to Chicago to visit you.

Merry Christmas Paul.

I love seafood but I got carried away once in college. We traveled to SC as a class to look at shorebird management on rice fields. Day 1 we ate at a nice seafood restaurant and I ate all my food and everything that was left on my classmates plates too. The next day I woke up sweating like crazy and got sick all the way through 3-4 different rice plantations, thought I was going to die there for a few minutes. I’m not allergic to shellfish but I might be allergic to like 250 shellfish

just finished blowing the snow with our 1975 Bobcat. This blower uses a paddle tail instead of an auger for the 2nd stage thrower. Back when dad bought this it was advertised as being able to throw snow farther because of the 2nd stage paddle.

When a dolphin blows and inhales that close to your boat, the sound startles you.

Agree fishing with whales is beyond cool, and getting photo is over the top luck.

(dolphins shut down the bite - run off the bait and gamefish).

That may explain part of our lack of salt success. I’ve never fished anywhere there weren’t tons of dolphins. Then again I have no clue how to avoid them

people say the same thing about otters here but I think it’s more of a convenient excuse, I catch fish near otters all the time. Then again the fish can’t exit the river and run away from the otters up through the woods, whereas I guess they just swim away from dolphins in the ocean (or at least try)

It was actually captured on video including the guy to the right who was also rolling at the moment. The pics I uploaded here are screenshots. I've watched it 50 times. Still amazed.

Whoa! @PhishLI, I'm looking at your last pic and the beach isn't very far away, I'm guessing 10' - 15' of water? I have my boat moored in a bay Southern Maine and have never seen a whale in that shallow. That's crazy! You sure you didn't have to change some inner garments? ?

Took some time off this week in hopes of doing some more fishing before the end of the year, but we got hammered with a snowstorm and had to cancel those plans. Plan B to start the day with coffee in the hot tub wasn't too bad of a consolation prize.

Came in bunches overnight... 12" in about 8 hours that went on top of the 4 we already had. We love the snow but the downside is the inevitable power outages (went out mid-morning and not expected to be restored for at least 48-60 hours).

Cat sitting for a few weeks. Daughter brought her cat over last night. Kept him locked in the bathroom over night. Our cats knew something was up but weren't too sure. This morning her cat is whining. My male coon is upstairs acting way out of sorts. The female calico is downstairs under the couch. The black cat is whining loudly. I turn the couch over and grab the female to bring her upstairs and get her and the coon both locked up. She wanted nothing to do with that and got me pretty good. I let my daughters cat out and he's not happy. Got him fed and situated. I'm hoping in the next couple days they'll get used to each other. I hate keeping any of them locked up.

The coon is 25lbs. My daughters cat is 16lbs

Got my daughter and wife a set of disc golf discs for Christmas.  My 5 year old really took to it and she did her first 18 holes without as much as one complaint.  It also didn't hurt it was 65 degrees at the end of December.

I’ve never tried disc golf. I was in a township hall parking lot a while back and they have a course on their property. As I’m sitting there I’m watching a few people unload their gear getting ready to play a round and they all had these carts and they were full of different colored discs and some appeared to be thicker than the others. I’ve never paid attention I guess so I didn’t realize there were that many different options and tools for the sport.

Probably like people who don’t fish and see all our crap. “I thought all you needed was a hook and a worm”. ?

yeah they are basically three different groups of discs, drivers, mid ranges and putters.  Then you get into flight characteristics of each disc and there is a grading scale for that. Kind of like when you say a baitcasting rod and then we all know how many different ones there are and some are better than others for certain things.  When I first started playing back in 2000 they didn't have any ratings and there were 2 main manufacturers.  I left it for a while and got back into during the pandemic and there are like 50 manufacturers and they have flight ratings for discs now too lol. It is a good way to get out of the house, get some walking in and not take more than a couple of hours to do it.

Thickass t-bone. Gonna reverse sear. Was going to do it on the pellet grill but the snow is dumping on us right now. So, oven and stove top it is.
