desmobob Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Cool! What a great hobby. Encourage him to keep a log book with some commentary and photos besides the usual tech details. I got my YMCA Bronze certification the summer after I graduated from high school in '79 and an advanced open water certification several years later. I haven't dove in years but love to get out my old log book, look at the photos and read about the dives. 6 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted August 5, 2021 Super User Posted August 5, 2021 That’s a great idea about the log book @desmobob. He got certified for 30’ (almost positive it wasn’t more than that) last October as a sophomore and I believe that was his 4th open water dive. I think he said someone brought up a lobster….Lol They missed a few due to weather and choppy seas but he enjoys it. I will pass on your advice. Thanks a million des! 2 Quote
desmobob Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 The SCUBAPro Divers' Passport is a nice one, but compact. The log I have is a large size plastic-bound book with plenty of room on each page for comments/commentary. I think I got it at Divers' Supply in Atlanta. I was always toting a camera and taking lots of photos so I taped envelopes on the back of the log pages that I had photos for. I don't know the best way to accomplish that kind of thing in the digital age... 1 Quote

Microsoft OneNote is pretty good for that stuff. You can connect it to all sorts of devices as well. The coolest part: you don't have to save anything. 1 Quote

Way north bass guy Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 It’s not prime big lake real estate, but I own the land on both sides of this river in these pics. Just spent an hour walking around it and caught a couple small bass on a frog. Couldn’t ask for a better place to have a bit of quiet time after a long days work. Country life. I plan to watch the sun go down over this barn for the rest of my days. 13 Quote
