fishing buddies this morning on a bike-ride coffee break.

All except for Tad on the left - me behind the camera and the rest all fish together.

Tad's blue bike is a 1930's French racer with Osgood gearing.  The first year the clunky derailleur system was allowed in TdF, the slowest rider with that set-up beat the previous year's record time.

I was able to get a little fishing time in on Rodman Reservoir yesterday as the temperature drove us off the lake around 1:30.
We caught 12 and our best 5 was a solid 20 lb. Best day this year, weight wise. Quality over quantity for this trip

I haven’t been on here much the last little bit. Been extremely busy at work and with our move. We just moved into our new place two days ago and it’s been a whirlwind of things to do. It’s all worth it though, as my wife, son and I couldn’t be more happy with where we are now. Here’s my view from the back deck every evening, and there’s a good sized river on our property just behind the barn and willows ( someday when I get a chance I’ll head down there with the kid and a couple rods to see what we can find).

Tonight was...an adventure.

It had started cooling off fairly well, so we decided to run up the river a little ways and fish the brushpiles on the channel-side of one of the islands there.

Missed a biggun on a spook right off the bat, and otherwise they really weren't buying what we were selling.

We did get into a little school of rock bass, and that was a lot of fun. And I got the picture below on the way back to the ramp.

Broke a chunk off the skeg on the big motor on the ramp. She didn't trim the motor up to run it onto the trailer, and I should have checked with her before she did it. Even then it probably would've been fine, but nobody thought (or mentioned) trimming up before we pulled it out, either.

Whatever. Prop looks okay, though, and as it wasn't running when it hit hard enough to break, the odds are pretty good the gearcase is still in pretty good shape.

That view couldn’t be more perfect! Congrats on the move.

I'll raise you a bacon-wrapped jalapeno popper and a cherry-glazed pork rib.

Right as the sun went down at our campsite, the catfish went nuts. I'd kept about 10 white perch to use for live bait hoping for a big blue cat or striper. I don't know if they were all channel cats, but I finally hooked one of the stupid things after about 5 failed attempts at hooking them. Wish the people next to us would have wanted it, might have made me feel a little better ? My wife captured the action shot of me cranking all 4lbs of him in on 65lb braid, a 300 size baitcasting reel, and 8' xh catfish casting rod.

Lovebirds. Daily ritual. She cries. He pokes his head under. A few sniffs and kisses, and they're good.

Just put on my forth coat of seasoning on it, so hopefully it’ll be good to go now.

They’re getting scarce. We went to five different stores before we found on, ended up getting what I thought was a dang good deal.

My dad has a big one and he makes great food on it, so I’m looking forward to trying it out.

Todd Trovin is a YouTuber for Blackstone and he does a cross country tour at various Walmart’s and Lowe’s and he’ll be at our local Walmart next week doing demonstrations. I’m going to try and make it and see if I can get some ideas.

Seems like everything is getting scarce.  I bought mine a couple of months ago.  Had to go to four Walmart before I found one were the box didn’t look like it had been thrown out of a moving truck.  I wish I had bought one years ago.  You can do so much with it.
