I shouldn't be laughing at that @J Francho, I've been dealing with a separated retina for 3 years now that left permanent damage in my left eye. I see the doc tomorrow about surgery. It was funny tho none the less.

I just may need one of those phones after tomorrow...?

Wait, I just read this...Do you still have a flip phone? If you do I'm jealous, I want to go back to one.

No my house phone(s)

They are a cordless relic from Panasonic that still has OPER

for operator on the '0' key.

Not much happening there any more.  Go ahead and try it.

I'll wait.

I just hang up and add the number to my block list.

Those numbers aren't real.

There's one of them that I know IS real. When I look at the caller ID and it's my number and has my name as the caller, it gives me a really odd feeling. How the heck do they do that?

What I mean is the number displayed is NOT the source of that call.  Caller ID is pretty easy to spoof.  Blocking the number could potentially prevent an actual person from calling.  Not a big deal these days, since no one uses their phone as a phone.

@J Francho is correct.

It's not legal in the US, but offshore spammers frequently use your neighbor's caller ID for spam calls.  I answered my neighbor Richard's ID one day only to be connected with a caller from India - I read him the riot act.

The phone system is getting much better at identifying incoming calls as SpamRisk.

The autodialer algorithm uses your area code and prefix, then generates four random digits, which explains why it's a 1/10000 chance of them using your own number.  It's happened to me too.  I do not think it's a good idea to answer them, since it confirms a live person on the other end, and could lead to more bogus calls.

I use the IPhone option to silence all calls not in my contacts. If I have a number I know that’s going to call (bank, mortgage, etc.) I’ll add it in so it rings through. The spam calls are few and far between now.

My work phone is a different story. I kind of need to answer my calls since I have contractors calling me all day. Mariot hotels is the one who has that number and blows it up and ticks me off. They get me every time.

Snow day today and busses were canceled,  so I’m making bread with the kid this afternoon.
I accidentally grazed the butter dish with a measuring cup, and the kid said “ oh no, are you gonna tell mom?” I said” of course I am, it’s not a good idea to lie or try to hide this from her, no good will ever come from doing that”. In reality, I probably wouldn’t have mentioned it to her, except I had to text her to ask where she put the ceramic glue ?

Went to my docs appt on Friday, the fluids have all drained which is great, retina is no longer detached, however, there's a lot of scarring in there that left permanent damage. For now. This fluid could be present next time, we'll see what's gong on in couple months.

So good, retina is back to where it needs to be. Bad, I'm impaired in my left eye permanently.

That’s good it’s not yours. I figured you did, but with everything you dealt with in 2020 I thought maybe it slipped your mind.

We did have some water damage last year. The heat went out and the residual water in the lines did freeze. We were fortunate that the fittings that froze were right where the water lines exited the basement to the first floor. The basement is unfinished. When we turned the water on, just the cement slab in the basement got wet.
