Lookin pretty good!

Usually I get to about that stage and rip it back open to start all over again, so this is the time to be careful, might I suggest some PPE for it ?

Yeah. 100 acres of algae bloom heaven...:moon:. We went 12 for 24 in 3 hours and all but 2 fish were over 2lbs. Dad outfished the kid as usual.

After we got off the lake this morning (the Predator) dad and son spent some quality time together working on the 14' Lund I gave him. Installed the gas motor and both a bow mount and transom mount trolling motors. Bought 2 battery boxes and 2 Interstate group 24 deep cycle batteries. Have to get a RAM mount so he can swivel the Helix 5 screen from bow to stern. I forgot to bring the new registration sticker with this morning, so the boats not legal, and the lake is policed by the village and the Po Po was out there today.

Sounds like a good day! We’ve had quite the algae bloom here too, this is the second big one of the year. I’m not a big fan of the lake getting sprayed, but when the lake is almost completely choked off with algae, it’s a welcome sight to see the airboat come on our lake a kill the algae which they did Thursday. It hasn’t slowed the fishing, 6poundbass has already caught 5 bass in 20 minutes tonight.

The creek that feeds his lake borders some farms way up the road. Best we can figure, the farm runoff is what has caused not only the bloom, but the lack of vegetation. We fished areas that were choked with weeds in April/May and are void now.

Our feeder creek goes through a ton of farm land as well. From the research I’ve done farm runoff, lack of rain, not a lot of boat traffic, and high temps are major factors in algae blooms.

That’s at the stage where as a stonemason, especially in the winter, it’d start to dry out and crack all to hell on me. Keep er slathered in lotion, and you’ll be all right ?

Early Morning Topwater ~

The late summer sun cracking the horizon

and a little fog on the lake,

screams walking bait in my world.

Just wish the fish knew that

I wore long sleeves to work yesterday and I thought I was going to have to cut myself out of my shirt with a pocket knife. I’d rather wear sunscreen but I sweat a lot more than most people

I just wish I could NOT wear long pants and long sleeves in August. I sweat like a pig, but I've had skin cancer. I don't want it again. Some things are worse than sweating.    ???        jj

You can, just be prepared for the 150 inches of snow that starts in November and lasts 6 months.

It was 42 degrees when I got to the lake.

Great windows open sleeping weather.

Wow. Already crisp! Sounds glorious but I would have to fly south before thanksgiving. If the line freezes in the guides, I go inside. If the water freezes I go south
