Mom and dad celebrated 57 years of wedded bliss yesterday. Hopefully it won't be their last. Mom has decided that she would rather die from the cancer, than the doctors, and has stopped all chemo treatments. Dad fell down getting ice at the gas station yesterday, which explains the shiner on his left eye.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad

Congrats on the many years and smiles...

5 days of barely eating or drinking anything due to a stomach virus got us another trip to the hospital. He's had green stuff coming out of everywhere, projectile style. Still didn't eat or drink much today, it's been a rough year for him.

No better today, afraid we may be in for another trip back for more fluids if nothing changes tomorrow. I had to carry him for Trick-or-Treating tonight because he didn't have the energy to walk much on his own. They said everything was normal with his blood work the other day, he just can't seem to shake the virus he has.

Give him some extra Halloween treats, those things are chock full of greatness!
Seriously though, hope he feels better soon.

Well, it’s earlier than usual for us, but with the long range forecast not looking any warmer, it’s time to put her to bed for the winter and go chase some deer for a bit.

First fire of the year today too. Now the long wait for spring begins ?.

Wish I could use my fireplace - which is central to the main floor...but the wife's asthma has gotten worse over the years and flares up bad with even a small fire.

Once in awhile I'll hear someone say that "our younger generation doesn't have what it takes..." Well, I beg to differ. Came across this act of courage today and knowing that there are young men like then, 19 year old Richard Weinmaster, out there, makes me sleep better at night. Please read the excerpt from his Navy Cross citation below.

"...serving as Automatic Rifleman, 3d Platoon, Company E, Second Battalion, Seventh Marines, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM on 8 July 2008. PFC Weinmaster's squad was conducting a dismounted patrol down a narrow side street in the Sangin District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan, when enemy forces ambushed the squad with machine gun fire and hand grenades. Upon contact, PFC Weinmaster immediately began engaging the enemy positions with his squad automatic weapon. As he delivered suppressive fire and assaulted the enemy, encountering a withering volume of fire, PFC Weinmaster saw two grenades tossed over a wall land in the middle of his patrol. Noting where one of the grenades landed, he quickly placed himself between the grenade and his fire team leader, using his body to shield both his team leader and several other Marines from the blast. PFC Weinmaster was seriously injured when the grenade detonated, but his valorous actions prevented his fire team leader from receiving any shrapnel. Although he was critically wounded, PFC Weinmaster continued to carry on the attack, engaging enemy forces with accurate automatic weapons fire and forcing them to break contact, until he collapsed from the gravity of his wounds."

Was cruising down the lake recently into this great looking sunrise...One of my favorite parts of fishing is the sights and scenery.

Nice - and 90.6 feet per second is nothing to sneeze at either.

That's a pole bender! What's on the other end of that line?
