I don't know how many fishing trips our old dog has left in her, but man the puppy sure comes out in her when I get into it and the wind hits her.

New rear hubs are in. Waiting on the last of my brake consumables to come in before I replace those. None to soon, either. My front pads are about down to the quick. The rears have a little more left on them, but not enough to keep me from just doing all four corners at once to be done with it.

I dunno why Rockauto shipped four rotors and two sets of pads from three different warehouses, but I guess it don't matter as long as they all show up.

Today is 6poundbass’s birthday, so I skipped work and we took him and his friends to a fun center. Of course I had to race them on the go karts and he hits me with the PIT maneuver!

There was a big air show in town this weekend, so we surprised the boys with tickets to the show. Lots of different things to see, but the Blue Angels AND the Thunderbirds were both there and performing stunts. It was really an amazing show. The boys got their pictures with a couple of the Blue Angel pilots that were walking around before it was their turn to fly, and we got to see a lot of different kind of aircraft up close.

Yes, they are. This, however, is more my speed:

Took the day to do some more car and boat maintenance since I have gobs of comp time than I was told I had to take right now.

Weather's nice for it, but the shop foreman is a real hardass.

Whoever made this hasn't ever ran into a cloud of "up north" mosquitos. They've only got a few months to work with and they're going to make them count. I'll never forget when my dad and I went to Canada on a fishing trip. We drove into one lake and the truck was swarmed before it ever came to a stop. You know when it starts pouring outside and you're in your car and have to make a mad dash for whatever building you're going to? That's what we did except it was to the little boat we were fishing out of that day. Even running the boat off the bank at full speed didn't help, they just settled into the bottom of the boat and waited for us to stop before they attacked again. Thankfully, the fishing was good or it would have been a nightmare.

The worst ones I’ve see were in Alaska, water everywhere skeeters everywhere. I’ve also nearly had mental breakdowns when they were eating me in Alabama and South Carolina. I hate those things.

interestingly, it’s CO2 that draws them in so all you have to do is stop breathing and they won’t bite you ………..
