Super User J._Bricker Posted March 8, 2020 Super User Posted March 8, 2020 Last week is now a memory, sunny and warm in the desert. Temps in the low 80’s, with the promise of spring and a pennant. Nothing like it in my opinion, enjoying some baseball while at times drifting off thinking of tight lines... 8 Quote

If the Twin Cities is anything like the Chicago area, there could be over a dollar difference per gallon depending on city and county taxes. Crook County, where I live, has the highest fuel taxes in the state and Chicago has the highest city fuel tax in the county. The state tax doubled from .19 to .38 per gal last year, one of the highest in the country. I can drive 15 minutes west or 15 minutes south and save .20-.40 per gal by getting out of Crook County. I think as long as we continue to produce our own oil and not rely on OPEC and the middle east to dictate our market we are good to go on a national basis. Remember that this November. Quote

We're pretty level here in the Twin Cities - in order for me to save .40 a gallon, I'd have to go to the NE suburbs - like you having to go from Chicago Heights to St Charles. At my gas mileage - it'd be a wash. (I know those two cities cause I had a friend who lived in the Heights, and a 2nd cousin who lived in St Charles.) Quote

Good times @lo n slo! I did it in Hawaii a couple years back with my oldest for the first time. It was a blast, and like your pictures show, the views are tremendous. The outfit started us off with a relatively short run, extending the length of the runs as the group got more confident, culminating in a final run of almost 1/2 a mile. Lot’s of fun! 1 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 The view from my “office” for the next week or so. Building a fireplace in a porch at a cottage that’s water access, no roads around at all, but of course up here it’s still “ice access” for another couple weeks so my snowmobile is my commute vehicle. 10 Quote

Ive done that many times in south Alabama, I've got video of a 10-12 footer swimming right by the boat. They show no signs of wanting to crawl into your boat, although the small ones will chase any lure over and over Quote

Boat flipping a 7-8 pound bowfin isn't easy on a MH rod but had to be done. 1 Quote

First time I ever fished around gators was Santee Cooper Reservoir maybe 10 or 15 years ago. Otherwise I only saw them in captivity. It was late March/Early April and the shoreline was lined with them sunning themselves. Had a 17ft boat at the time and at least 2 of the gators we trolled past were almost the size of the boat. We spooked one of them and when he/she hit the water, the boat rocked pretty good. The few times I fished in FL the gators were smaller, but it was a little intimidating nonetheless. I'm a city boy and gators are out of my element. We took my grandson to Gatorland in Orlando this past December. They had some 4-5ft gators in a pond that he could feed. I think I paid a buck a fish, and my grandson loved it. There's a HUGE difference between a 5ft gator in a pen and a 14ft gator in the wild. Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Yall would hate to fish the okefenokee then. Literally hundreds everywhere.
