That time of year again. They're back; they're obnoxious; and they'll heckle anyone walking by....

At least the come and go for you.  They stay year round out here.  I drove past a ranch pond a couple of weeks ago... it had a tiny area about 15'x 100' that was open and there were about 500 snow geese and another 200-300 Canada honkers gathered on the ice as close around that little lead as they could get.  The only time we don't see them in large flocks of Canada geese is when they are nesting.  Then they disperse all over the countryside to raise the young.

Went for a skate on the lake behind our place this morning. Windy, but darn near perfect conditions for a hockey game.

You'd need skates with a lot of flotation around here now.  Here east of the mountains, the ice went off the ponds and lakes during the last week and a half.

This lake still has 2’ of ice, no bass fishing for me so we’ll make the best of it. But I’d much rather be on the front deck of the boat.

Love the "Whoa" sign in the background. That's how you know you're in horse country.

ugh, just what I needed this week... I guess a branch fell over the weekend, because my truck hasn't been anywhere other than in the driveway.

I glance at this thread occasionally but I never post in it.  My wife and I occasionally take hiking trips in the Rockies, and the Appalachians as well, so I thought this might be a good place to post some nature scenes we have captured along the way.

The pic below was one that was taken as we traveled to and from our lodging to Rocky Mountain National Park in 2015.  This moose was one of many we captured hanging out in the Colorado River valley on the west side of the park.

Some duck hunter had a bad day, found them all floating around different parts of the lake but duck season has been closed for awhile now.

Connect them all with the cable to travel in a line, put a honking treble hook on the last one and tow it behind your rig for mutant Muskie !

You did mention you we looking to fish a newly invented rig.

Well here ya go - presenting "The Kansas Quad Mallard Rig" . . . .

This is another pic from Rocky Mountain National Park.  We were standing at a little over 12,000 feet.

I might have to give it a try if there was any muskie anywhere close by. I might be able to get a big flathead to take a run at one though since they are known to have basketballs on their menu.

We took our son to go see the Monster Jam series. It was entertaining, he had a blast. I'd love to take one for a spin.
