Bailey is a spitz type - mostly Shiba Inu - so I can relate to the personality of a working dog.  They are something else, a ton of work, but the payoff is great.  Bailey's off leash training is going so well, I'm looking into clicker training.  I think she'll pick it up quickly.

I only have one (out of six) off leash dog - Teddy.  He's a Lab /  Golden mix and is easily the smartest dog we've ever had.  Actually seems like a waste of his talents being just a house dog.

Teddy

But the rest of the pack has way too high a prey drive to be off lead.

And with the amount of 'prey' around these parts - that's just the way it is.

Make some of the sled ride interesting.

We have an acre fenced in (6 ft) so they have room to stretch their legs.

And when a rabbit gets in the back forty - the chase is on - good times.

First time he opened his eyes! My little guy is doing better and better. I really appreciate all the kind words and thoughts. He's a spitfire and a lady killer already :D

Thanks ~ Tucker & Fenway agree with you.

And her personality & spirit are pretty awesome as well.

Ahh... we had a St Bernard named Fenway. That gentle giant died way too soon. It's been about 15 years already and one of these days I'm going to have to go for Fenway II since it's the coolest dog name ever and we owe him that type of honor.

The nurses always told us premature babies are spit fires even as they grow up, because they've had to fight since day one. My son is 7 now as you've seen and he's a spit fire for sure. Hold on to your britches, and enjoy your little boy!

Have you seen many bay loons this summer? Where I was in Ontario there were very few compared to previous years, presumably because of the wet spring and early summer.

Not sure what a bay Loon is, but there is a ***** load on Squam.......probable half a dozen areas roped off for nesting and a big reason why NH banned lead weights

Got the win and big bass in the weeknight tournament this week. Weigh in at 9:30, caught the big one at 9:14 on a homemade black and blue bladed jig.

Something about a bald eagle being in captivity seems wrong, but this was unable to live on his own...

Today the dog and I went for a walk along the famous river Itchen in Hampshire. Dog spotted a grayling in a little carrier stream.

Not long afterwards he was in splashing about of course, but that's spaniels. Part otter.

More loon shots from this morning. The lake I fish almost every weekend has a family of loons living on it. A male, female and two chicks. The whole family is very social, and all four of them frequently come right up to the boat. I've watched the chicks grow this year. Around late June is when they hatched, and when I first noticed them they were about the size of a baseball. They are now a little bit smaller than a duck.
