I watch a decent amount of bass tournaments and shows on television and a lot of them simply either don't and/or aren't allowed to use a landing net.  I have one in my boat all the time and I use it on bigger fish that are not suitable to hoist in (especially with a bait caster).  How many of you use a landing net?

I won't ever go without one again after losing a big un. I don't use it much but its there just I case

I lip them most of the time when I'm in the yak, but if I'm in a bass boat and its a true monster I use the net.

Just because BASS doesn't allow them doesn't mean the rest of need to follow

If my lure has treble hooks the bass is netted!

Though I avoid using the net, I never go fishing without one.

I only use the net for heavy fish, and don't mind losing the others.

This is when I try not to use a net.  I don't want a hook in my hand, but I hate getting trebles out of my net!

I never take one, but I fish sitting down, in a small boat low to the water, so I can reach the fish without having to kneel, move or run to the back of the boat like Ike.  Lipping the larger fish is easy, however if they are small or there are treble hooks involved I have found that belly landing, grabbing them around the head or lifting the lure (if possible) all tend to immobilize the bass.

I do carry a pair of Boga grips that I use for the occasional big catfish, I guess I could use it on a bass if needed.

You're using the wrong kind of net.

Treble hooks - any size fish = net.

Small fish = no net.

Bigger fish = net.

REALLY BIG FISH = no net.

If I am fishing off of the bank I don't use a net.  Just something else to carry.  When I am fishing out of a boat I rarely use one.  More clutter on the deck.

Mine is a Frabill small-mesh net designed with the welfare of the fish in mind.  I bought it so I would not split the tails of Halibut.  Larger mesh, knotted nets will split their tails which can result in tail-rot and fish mortality.  A rubber net would do the same thing but they are really heavy.

It's okay to have two nets, each with a specific purpose.  I in fact have several nets.  I wouldn't take my salmon net bass fishing.

Frabile always with trebles

.....and with knees as bad as mine, anything over 2.

I do not mind loosing the smaller ones

Always carry a net, rarely use it for bass unless it's really good size and I want the photo op or whatever.  I don't keep track of fish counts or anything, I just don't fret over losing a fish that much.   If I lose one at the boat, oh well.

Walleye fishing I will use it for legal fish because I'm usually keeping a couple for dinner.   Anything toothy - a big northern etc...   Two weeks ago I hooked up with a gar on a crankbait (teeth + treble) and you can bet your bottom dollar I would have been using a net with that guy.   Trout fishing while I'm wading I often use a small net that I have hanging off of a magnet on the back of my vest because they are hyper-spastic and I think it's safer to net them, turn them upside down to disorient them and remove the fly, and then release.

I use almost nothing but light braid so I'm more concerned about losing a $15 jerkbait than losing a fish so I use a net with bigger fish. I also bring a net when I'm floating. The net will hold the bass safely in the water while I'm setting up my camera.

I always have a good net. Especially if i have my 74 year old dad with me. I always put my rod down and get his fish,no matter what size or kind.

I have my 5 yr old son using a spincast ultra light so I  make sure I have one on hand. Plus he likes to run and grab the net when I  catch something, his way of getting in on a bigger fish.
