DanC Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 I have a reel that I really like. Quantum Energy E130PTs-B. Last year it started randomly back reeling. It would happen when I had a fish on. I bought a new one and I like the old one better. I took the whole thing apart and cleaned every gear, bearing, etc. and put it back together and greard everything. It still does the exact same thing. None of the parts looked damaged. I have a whole diagram with all the parts and part numbers. I have no idea what part to buy. It doesn't seem like it's the switch. When it does it it usually does it for lees than a full turn. Any ideas? Quote

Any ideas? I'm gonna say its your anti reverse bearing. I have the same issue with a brand new REVO STX. Abu Garcia let me keep the reel but it still back reels on occasion. Over oiling the ARB can definitely cause the back reeling also. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me chimes in. If not, I would check eBay for a replacement if quantum doesn't offer the replacement parts. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted April 30, 2017 Super User Posted April 30, 2017 Personally if I liked the reel enough, then I would send it to DVT or find someone local that does a lot of reel repairs. A total cleaning and reassembly with proper lube could fix it. Quote
DanC Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 What is DVT? I have already cleaned, reassembled, and greased everything. I had every part out. Quote
Wildbillb Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 It's the anti reverse bearing. I've replaced a few if them. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 He did you clean and lube the anti reverse? It's either dirty, over lubed or worn out Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted May 1, 2017 Super User Posted May 1, 2017 DVT is one of our great board sponsors. He is Delaware valley Tackle. He just jumped in here, If you did disassemble it, clean it and properly lube it, then may a second set of eyes will notice something weak or not working correctly. Quote
