1975 RHYAN CRAFT 14' aluminum jon boat. It has a working 4.5 hp Ted Williams Series Sears outboard with a 6 gal external fuel tank and fuel line. I do not know the year of the motor, it is old but does start up and runs fine. Good thing about this motor is you can find many of the replacement parts online at Sears' website.  30 lb Motorguide trolling motor with a new battery, brand new Eagle fish finder, depth, and water temp, customized interior, floors, new carpet, casting deck with flush doors, lots of storage, speakers with a hook up for iPod or mp3 player, live well, bow/stern lights and fog light on 2 switches, fire ext, 2 life vests, anchor, 2 swivel seats, rod holders, trailer has brand new tires and rims with a spare, lights work with new wiring, i have title to trailer. easy to tow and use, everything works, great looking boat ready to fish, a great boat for a first time owner

My guess would be $1300 - $1600  just going on what I see for sale around me of comparable jon boats ......looks like a good boat from where I'm sittin'.   :(

I would not add much to the price for the motor.  If that's what you are looking for in a jon I would figure about $800 and no more than $1000.

I should say also, it's totally depending on what it's worth to you and how well it meets what you are looking for.  If that's the exact boat you would like to have in a jon, it's worth just what you feel you would like to pay.  The value is in the buyer, while it's not worth me hauling it home because it's useless to me, it may be worth $1,500 to you.

But if that Eagle on the deck is a 320c, thats over $200 right there.

gotta factor that stuff in

About $1000 give or take a couple hundred.  The motor may be worth more parted out than it is on the back of the boat and what gives with those el-cheapo plastic seats?

Ok thanks for the input guys. the anwsers have been pretty close to the asking price of $800. This is pretty much what im loookin for in a boat (wish the motor was alot newer though) so im still considering it. ill keep you posted if i make any further moves on this.

If it doesn't leak I would pay $800 for it... no problem... I hope I can find a boat like that when I get to Georgia.. that is perfect for what I am looking for.. heck I don't even need the gas motor... I will just put a trolling motor on the back too!

if it doesn't leak I would definately go for it..

BPB,

It certainly looks like a good deal. One thing you might do is take it out on the water and stand on the front casting deck. That looks like a 36" wide jon (at the base), and that casting deck is raised all the way to the top lip of the boat. Might be a little unstable. Plus, that's a lot of plywood added to a boat that already sits pretty low in the water. Just a couple of thoughts.

Good luck either way.

John boats seem to be all over the place. Some are so so with no motor and they want $1,300 - $1,800 other times you can get something decent for $800. I'd say the motor is a little small ( depends on where you fish) but if the motor runs good you can't go too far wrong. I'd say as a package the price is pretty good. I'm not sure everyone is giving enough credit for all the extras that most don't come with. I don't think most people know in advance what they are getting into ( me included). With a fishfinder, trolling motor, life vests & lights I'd say if you like it go for it. You'lll still need several ropes and an anchor but you are almost set up completelt.

If the boat is still available when i get back from being outta town in a week, im gonna ask him if i can take it out for a spin. Definitly wanna see how stable it is before commiting to the purchase.

After looking a little closer the stable thing might be a good idea because of the unusual seat arrangement thing. It looks like they offset the seats for visibility when motoring and for max room when standing while fishing.

If you were fishing while in the front seat and your buddy was standing in the middle in the back then moves unexpectedly to your side you or he might have an issue. I can't tell from the pictures if this boat is standard width or wide. I've got a 14' flat bottom extra wide. I know that it won't tip but if my buddy moves suddenly from the middle while I am standing it can throw you off balance. With this seating arrangement it could be magnified and even worse if a narrow boat.

Even if narrow it might still be ok but you would want to at least make sure you are aware of it.

Those seats wouldn't be that hard to change around anyway if need be.

I'm no boat expert and have only owned just this one boat. So take my advice for what you make of it.

The first thing I would do is put that front seat in the center of the boat. There isn't many things worse than fishing while leaning sideways.

I didn't even notice that.

BPB, if you can find a bare hull for $2-400, I would built it yourself with the goodies you want and where you want them.  We can help if you have the tools and space for a project.
