I've personally not spent any real time pitching with the sv105. I have other reels I use for that situation, and I enjoy using more. As far as casting that reel does fine for me. I have a YouTube video of me spooling mine to the knot using a Dobyns 733 and a sk red eye shad. That was with #40 braid also. After the spring swap it's definitely more finicky and took some time to setup properly again. The braking was changed but now requires a little more brakes on the mag dial. I use mine for jerks,cranks, and topwaters.
