The price is right for what I need them for, and it specs out for my specific needs, BUT has anyone used one? Even if you have used the standard Komodo I'd like to know, or if you have a possible replacement suggestion. Just keep in mind they have to stand up to a lot more abuse then under normal conditions. There's more to this but we will get to that if the thread progresses. Thanks ahead.

I have the standard Komodo.  I don't remember the size, but it's on a Okuma swimbait rod.  It's held up fine for over a year, fishing for both bass and pike.

I have it on one of my Guide Select swimbait rods. It has been flawless. I also have 2 of the smaller Komoda's on conventional rods. Great reels.

Hello Esoxfreak-  The Komodo in your pic is the older version of the Komodo.  Great real for sure, but we introduced the Komodo SS this year.  It comes in a 350 and 450 size.  The SS on the reel stands for Stainless Steel gearing.  Very strong and durable reel.  If you are throwing swimbaits, the last year version will work out great for you, but the new version is going to be a little stronger and more durable.
Just wanted to throw that out there.  I think you'll be happy with either version.

My catalogue is from last year, lol. I had a friend call yesterday and advise me of the new okumas. He neglected to mention a 450!!! Hey on a side note what rod do you recommend for the 16in, line thru 3D trout? I fish several 12in but want to throw the16 so bad. Since I'm getting new reels I might as well get a couple rods too...
