Kidflex Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I recently came across this pic and was wondering if this was legit. I googled to see if there was a new Texas bass record but nothing showed of this nature. Anyone else seen or heard about this? Fake news? Quote
Super User Darren. Posted April 23, 2017 Super User Posted April 23, 2017 Fake or not, that's a BEAST! Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted April 23, 2017 Super User Posted April 23, 2017 That picture looks familiar to me because the bass looks like it is suckling the guys thumb. Monster bass for sure. Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted April 23, 2017 Super User Posted April 23, 2017 Good job, @S. Sass Yep, it's a prank. It was posted to a fake news website. The Inks Lake lake record is only 12.5 pounds caught back in Feb. this year. Additionally, it says it was entered into the ShareLunker program, but there is no listing of it on their website or Facebook Page. -T9 1 Quote

Super User Gundog Posted April 23, 2017 Super User Posted April 23, 2017 Much like most of the reports on today's news shows, it seems this report is a fake. I think the Russians were involved. 2 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted April 23, 2017 Super User Posted April 23, 2017 This bass was caught in Rodman Pool, Florida, it weighted 'only' 14-lb 1-oz It's plain to see that this bass is about 6 pounds lighter than the 20-lb Texas record New Texas Record Bass 20-lb 4-oz Roger 1 Quote

Tucson Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Camera perspective can really conceal the truth. With a slightly wide-angle lens the closest objects appear larger (relatively) than those in the background. On the other hand, heckuva nice bass. Quote

Super User Master Bait'r Posted April 29, 2017 Super User Posted April 29, 2017 I would wonder why people would bother making it up at all, but even if the fakest of the fake has a clickbaity-enough title it'll garner a few, and that gets them paid. It disgusts me how little people care about accuracy, and the propensity with which people willfully deceive others (and poorly at that) as a profession is staggering. Quote
