Quarry Man Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I currently have two spinning reels with braid, one with 30 lb suffix 832 and the other with 20 lb tuf line force. I think tying a leader is a pain, but it is far better than dealing with line twist. I also know exactly where the line will break each time. I am looking at another spinning setup. It is the Quantum Smoke Inshore Combo. It is blue. Would be nice to match the reel and rod with the line, but not a must. I am thinking the blue your Hybrid or red power pro. Looking at 10 lb test and 300 yards all for 1 reel. will be used for trout, bass, and inshore. what do you think? Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted April 20, 2017 Super User Posted April 20, 2017 What size spinning reel, and what inshore species are you targeting? I think the freshwater fish will be easily handled by this, and the saltwater species will drive combo size and line choice. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted April 20, 2017 Super User Posted April 20, 2017 I definitely wouldn't go for red Power Pro - unless their dye has changed. It bled all over my Quantum baitcaster...haven't used red since. Quote

Super User NHBull Posted April 20, 2017 Super User Posted April 20, 2017 Wow, if this is for inland fishing, you could easily get away with 10 lb, I have smackdown on and it is performing wonderfully. on my 4000 series, 20 lb 832 is getting the call 1 Quote

Super User Further North Posted April 21, 2017 Super User Posted April 21, 2017 Don't take this wrong...but the day I begin to worry about matching my line color to my rod and reel...I hope my fishing buddies clunk me over the head and sink me in deep water... 2 Quote

Is that what you meant? I meant that with mono or floro, you have the risk of line twist, and with braid, you don't have line twist, but tying a leader is a pita Quote
