Folks,

After weeks of reading about premium braids, I see that in many of the reviews that one of the most common complaint is that they loose color or fade quickly.......most say it is bad enough to change their mind, but I wonder why this

is mentioned the most with the upper tier.

Any insight is appropriate,

Al

the material that braided lines are made of doesnt absorb the ink, so it will eventually fade. Think of it like you coloring a crankbait with a marker, it will retain its brightness/original hue of the color for a while, then slowly fades.

If I ever use braid, I'd go for white so that there is no fading.

Yeah but white braid will stain and turn brown/green depending in the water abd muck you fish in...

They're made from the same basic PE material for the most part...There are a few differences here and there, but IMO for the bass fisherman braid is braid as long as it's a reputable brand. Get the diameter that works for you.

Edit* I will add that line conditioner seems to help them keep their coatings better.

I don't place a great deal of emphasis on lure color, so I sure don't care about line color.

Too many important factors to be concerned about.

I use both power pro and suffix(yellow and green). The more you use them, they will fade lighter at some point. Im not close to some reels now,but ill get pics up. It still fishes the same though.

I only care so much that I fish braid/leader for a lot of weightless soft plastics, so I am line-watching a lot of the time and my preference is for as bright a chartreuse line as I can get.

I just color mine with a Sharpie whenever it starts to fade. Color may not matter to the fish, but to my delicate mind it does.

The only braid I have used that doesn't fray or bleed bye or fade coloration is FINNS.

Buy white braid. It doesn't fade, though mutes slightly as it gets grubby, and is visible in most conditions.

Apparently the new Vicious No Fade braid does what its name implies.  I personally haven't tried it because it's pretty pricey and I don't care enough about braid-fade.
