jlwest63 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 What has your experance been with trading in a boat to buy one? I have a pontoon boat and the wife said I can get rid of it for a bass boat. ;D I might trade it in but not if it is like car dealers where they give you nothing for a trade. Thanks Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted November 6, 2006 Super User Posted November 6, 2006 I thing you do better with car dealers than with boat dealers. My experience has been they want you to give them you old boat if it's more than a year or two old. If you don't mind the hassles of trying to sell the pontoon yourself, you will usually do much better buying your bass boat outright with no trade. Dealing with the public trying to sell a boat is a pain in the butt and many people has just as soon take the loss rather than having to deal with selling it themselves. The last couple of cars I had after buying a new one, I've just taken to the auction just to keep from having to deal with the dealer or the public. Quote
Tom Bass Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Why don't you try having a dealer sell it on consignment. They do all the work. You may not get as much but they get the hastle. Quote
HPBB Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 It depend on the dealer. I know some that take trades and some that don't. I Also know some that will take a boat on trade as long as its a popular boat in that area, and they know its a quick resale for them. when looking at a new boat ask see if they do take trades. Quote
floridabassboy Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 CHECK THE ADS IN THE PAPER there are some good web sites that shoe you boats in your area Quote
