Hello. Well, as the title says I'm in Huntsville, Alabama and I'm getting back into bass fishing after a lot of years. When I was a kid I used to fish a lot with my Dad and Granddad, and even did some commercial fishery work. But life is what it is; Granddad is hunting and fishing on the other side and I live 250 miles from home. I'm at a point in my career where I have some time and money to fish again and I'm working to learn Guntersville and the other TVA lakes around north Alabama. I am also introducing my wife to fishing and boating. I finally talked myself into buying a boat last July and I've been fishing every chance I get but without a lot of success so far. The point to all this is that I'm looking for any advice and tips for North Alabama. I'm not picky about species - I just love to catch fish. Bass, bluegill, or crappie are fine with me as long as I'm having fun. Also, with my wife being new to boating, I would like to focus on calmer areas away from high traffic channels if possible. Thanks to anyone in advance for any advice.

I always cross the tennessee rive near Decatur, on my way to LAY lake south of Birmingham. it  looks very enticing!!the KY. spots on the cussa river chain are a lot of fun!! my step da said he use to fish the Tennessee river near that state park on I 65  he said it was great for stripper and huge crappie, have also seen tv shows showing guys catching monster cat fish near the dam. you are going to find that AL. has lots of water and fish.
