ohihunter2014 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 what's your favorite under $40 polarized glasses? can i get away with Berkley or ugly stick Wal-Mart glasses? Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 The new Strike King S11 glasses are fantastic. Just as good as my Wiley X glasses as far as visibility. I have the Okeechobee model. 5 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted April 13, 2017 Super User Posted April 13, 2017 I found a pair of Storm polarized glasses at Wal-Mart for around $30. I really liked them for the short time I used them. Quote
mllrtm79 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I found a pair of spider wire ones on the clearance rack at Walmart for $5. They are a crazy orange color frame, but are the blue blocker style yellow lenses that I wanted to try out for lower light situations. I tried them once so far, and other than my co-angler making fun of them being brighter than the rising sun they were pretty good. Not going to replace my Maui Jim's for most situations though. 1 Quote
RichF Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 For more options, try 6pm.com. I got 2 pairs of really nice polarized Spys for under $40 each. Retailed for over $140 ea. Quote
jimf Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Lot's of sunglass talk recently. The biggest thing you will notice on a daily basis between cheaper glasses and expensive glasses is comfort. Expensive glasses really are more comfortable, and the are more durable. But imo, that's about where the benefits stop. If you are worried about optical quality of the cheap lenses like Berkley or the BassPro XPS brand, don't. They will work fine, and provide proper UV protection as well as the expensive models. 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 13, 2017 Super User Posted April 13, 2017 Strike King S11 glasses are great for the money. Allen 2 Quote
Djman72 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I get the spiderwire glasses from walmart. I'm really rough on them and they work great for me. I usually lose them, but they work well with seeing in the shallows. Quote
tholmes Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I wear the $20 Solar Shield fit-overs from Wal-Mart (Walgreens sells them too) because I'm way too cheap to lay down $400 or more for prescription sunglasses. They have 100% UV block, brow and side shields and impact-resistant lenses. They also look kinda dorky, but I'm way past caring about that. Tom 1 Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 A bit over your budget, but I've had my Suncloud's for a couple of years and they do fine. They're scratched and beat pretty good, but I still use them daily. $49.99 before tax. I do, however, plan to upgrade to Maui Jim's soon. Quote
MichiganBass80 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I have been wearing Bass Pro XPS Bluefin polarized sunglasses for the last 3 years. They are pretty good for the price. I think I paid $18 for them at the spring classic sale, but they are only around $25 regular price. Quote
CroakHunter Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Go to ebay and type in fake oakleys. Cheap cheap! And they work just fine. Quote
moguy1973 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 If you have a Sams membership keep an eye out there. I've seen several name brand sunglasses there on sale for $20-40 from time to time. I picked up a pair of Revo sunglasses there a couple years ago for $25, normally $99. Also I have a couple pair of Fishgillz sunglasses. They are my go to sunglasses if I go out in my kayak or go swimming since they float. From time to time they will have a buy one get one free sale which makes them about $15-20 each. They aren't super high quality but they are lightweight, they come with a soft case, and they float. Quote
Big Swimbait Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Another vote for the Strike King S11's. 2 Quote
Pacoac10 Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I have 2 pair of bps sunglasses, smoke lens I use for everyday sunglasses. The amber lens I use for fishing. I've had them for 3 years now, other than tightening up the screws every few months I've had no issues. Quote
Travis Gasper Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I just bought a pair of Strike King S11 polarized sunglasses for $40 and am very happy with them. I just noticed you can get them on eBay for $26 too. 1 Quote

wisconsin heat Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I have like 6 pairs of the YUM sunglasses found in walmart. they cost like $4.88 or something, and the polarization is good. I buy them because I will take non-fisherman fishing often and like to have extra pairs handy. They fit me pretty well, and they cut down glare great. Not resistant to scratches or anything because they are cheap plastic lenses, but they work just fine. Quote
Burrito Bandit Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 For custom prescription polarized try Zenni Optical. Unbeatable prices and great styles; $75 out the door is what I paid. If you wear prescription, that's unbeatable. Tight lines. -Juan 1 Quote
chattooga_ basser Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Calcutta Bait company makes a pretty good pair of cheap polarized sunglasses, I've had one pair for almost a year now and they have held up pretty good. Quote
JigMaster4 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I got a free pair of strike kings for entering a tournament, and they work great! Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 16, 2017 Super User Posted April 16, 2017 I have had a pair of SK S11's since they first came out. They are worlds better than the $20 SK's, Berkley's , etc....that I used before. I have had them for 4 years, going on 5, and need to be replaced soon as the frame is cracked from me stepping on them. At $40 they have been a good value, because I used to go through 2 pairs of $20 ones a year replacing them after the lenses get all scratched up. I wear them 24/7 and at work is where they get all beat up, but the SK's lenses have lasted much much longer than the rest. Quote

Gave one pair away so now I have 2 smoke lense for sunny daysand a amber one for low light. Allen Quote
