wyattc Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 In the market for a new punching rod. Is the loomis Imx 7'11" worth the money for it? I'm using a 7'6" right now and don't know if I'd like the longer rod. Is there any other viable options in the 7 6 range? Quote
RichF Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I don't do a ton of punching but I have a 7'6 XH moderate fast Kistler Helium for that technique. It's unbelievably balanced. I can flip an ounce and a quarter tungsten all day with no fatigue. I initially tried with my 7'11 H St Croix Legend Extreme but the extra length with the heavy weight made it tough. It was only comfortable with a counterbalance weight on the butt, which I just didn't like. Quote
Finnz922 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Irod 775, 7114 are worth a look. I know that there are some guys that use the 754 as a punch rod, I use it as a frog. good tip plenty of backbone. Loomis makes great products. They will work well for what you want. Quote
WPCfishing Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Lews Speed Stick Magnum One 7' the rod is a monster. Forget the weight ratings on the rod... it's a hook setting stick with serious power. Quote
