Adleyfishes Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Hey I want to get in to swim baiting, but I also don't want my pockets empty. I want quality but at a low price and I know that a hundred dollars is very cheep for a reel but please help. Quote

ghost Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Abu Garcia Orra Winch. On sale for $79.99 at TW, BPS, Cabelas and other places. Holds good amount of line, slower gear ratio, longer handle and more compact than a round reel. 1 Quote

Super User webertime Posted April 13, 2017 Super User Posted April 13, 2017 By Swimbaits are you talking up to 3oz or say 3-6 oz or BIG mommas? I'd say the Winch mentioned above for smaller baits is fine. The Cardiff 300/301 for the bigger baits is great. You can get an Abu 5500 for ~$30-$50 all day on the auction sites. 5:1 ratio, good capacity, upgradable to the hilt. Another option is the Regular Tatula used for $60-70 and get the HD spool from Daiwa and drop that in. That works well on baits up to ~4oz (8" Hudds, R2S S Waver 200, Deps SS175, 9" Slammers). If the swimbait thing is not for you, moving a Cardiff or the upgraded Tatula is EASY/Fast. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted April 13, 2017 Super User Posted April 13, 2017 I'm not sure how big of swimbait you're talking, but an old green Bantam Curado will get the job done. 1 Quote
d-camarena Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Bantam, i use one for hudds. Never had a problem Quote

I'll echo the answers above: Millionaire, Cardiff, Ambassedeur. Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 13, 2017 Super User Posted April 13, 2017 If the OP is asking about swimbaits that weigh over 2 oz he also needs a swimbait rod and reel, under 1 1/2 oz a standard heavy action crank bait rod/reel combo works good. Tom Quote
