The first 6 are just set up to make the most intriguing story line leading into game 7. I don't understand why they don't just play one like the NFL on a neutral court. It's the same starters each game, not like MLB where they have different pitchers. First is money, second, in a multiple game series the better team almost always wins, whereas a one game eliminarion, the better team on that day wins. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted June 10, 2017 Author Super User Posted June 10, 2017 I'm guessing everyone caught LeBron and KD jawing at eachother after the "flagrant" on Durant? I'm glad they didn't immediately get in between them. I like to see that, just two greats having a heated, emotional discussion during a hard fought battle. It was cool to see. A few minutes later they made up. They talked again and slapped eachother five. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted June 11, 2017 Author Super User Posted June 11, 2017 So we know that the record-setting offensive onslaught Cleveland displayed in game 4 probably can't be replicated in game 5, so what do you think is going to happen at Oracle on Monday? Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted June 13, 2017 Super User Posted June 13, 2017 What a riveting season. GS took that -130 odds from July 5th last year and showed that they were the best. They WILL win it again next year. No need to watch or really even play the games. The NBA is weak. Quote

At this point, there is no clear cut favorite to win the World Series or the Super Bowl. GS is already a 2/3 favorite to win the Ship next year. Pretty close huh? Quote

Enjoy your sour grapes Hopefully they last you until next October when you can reach for more stuff to complain about, instead of just enjoying watching the best players and teams in the world in a bitter rivalry battle it out for the championship. But you're right, I would much rather see the Jazz and the Bulls! Heyward and 56 year old Dwyane Wade are much more fun to watch than Curry, Klay, KD, LeBron and Kyrie! Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted June 13, 2017 Super User Posted June 13, 2017 Congratulations Golden State Warriors, 2017 NBA Champions! Welcome back Larry! Much respect to the Cavs, they played a great series. 2 Quote

I'm guessing your much younger than me and you got a trophy just for signing up for Little League. I'm sorry us old timers like to see people compete for titles. You've admitted to being a bandwagon fan, so there isn't much going to change your opinion. Continue to enjoy this watered down league. Quote

Bandwagon fan? I'm a Minnesota fan. Nice try though. Interesting argument with participation trophies, not sure what that has to do with anything but it's clear you're trying to reach for anything because what you're saying doesn't quite make sense. This league is the furthest thing from watered down. There is so much elite talent in this league right now, regardless of who wins the championship. I actually enjoy watching basketball games with any teams for the competition and individual talent. Whether it's the insane abilities of guys like Westbrook, Harden, LeBron, KD or Curry, or the incredible passing abilities of Chris Paul, Ricky Rubio or Nikola Jokic. I like to watch the competition for the 8th seed or game 7 between Boston and Washington and I actually enjoy the sport for the individual games and players. But in the championship I want to see rivals and talent. Right now the most of both come from GS and Cleveland. If you say this league is watered down then it's pretty clear you don't follow the league. I can't help you if you don't like to watch basketball. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted June 13, 2017 Super User Posted June 13, 2017 Great game, great season. JB doesn't seem to like much if it doesn't fit within his parameters. 5 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted June 13, 2017 Author Super User Posted June 13, 2017 That was a very entertaining game, as these two teams always are. Already looking forward to the Christmas Day game between the Warriors and Cavs. I wonder how LeBron the GM will go about dealing with having to possibly go at it with GS again for a championship. It's clear defense is their weak spot. Next up, the awards and the draft. My guesses are: Westbrook for MVP Draymond for Defensive POTY Brogdon for Rookie OTY Gordon for 6th man OTY D'Antoni for Coach OTY 2 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted June 13, 2017 Super User Posted June 13, 2017 Ok, you guys are right. It's a very competitive league when 28 teams don't even have a chance. Even the finals weren't close. But you got to see 7 all Stars on the court at once and a lot of 3 pointers and dunks. I have my opinion that the league as a whole is weak, if you don't agree that is fine. I didn't say there weren't elite players, but there just aren't many good teams. GS and Cle proved that by the way they blew threw the playoffs. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 13, 2017 Super User Posted June 13, 2017 Very happy with the resultant win by the Warriors! W/o KD, I don't think it would have happened thus. 3 Quote

I agree, the NBA's parity is terrible right now. There's really only 2 good teams in the entire league and clearly one of them was a lot better than the other. The competitive balance has never been as good as it has been in other pro sports but its noticeably lopsided at the moment. Most seasons there's about 4 or 5 teams that have a legitimate chance to win the NBA title but right now there's only 2. There's a really good chance we'll see the same two teams again next year in the finals. I say this as a neutral basketball and sports fan in general, I am not a fan of the Cavs or Warriors. 1 Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted June 14, 2017 Super User Posted June 14, 2017 LeBron can't do it on his own but he d**n well tried....As far as legitimate contenders, it has always been 3-4 teams that were legit contenders. there are always the top teams and as second tier that may have an upset or two but rarely does true contender get upset early in the playoffs. I'm definitely a fan of the NBA and I want the best teams playing at the end and we without a doubt had that just too much firepower from GS. 2 Quote

Between the cavs and warriors they lost 1 game leading up to the finals. That screams no competitive balance. Even in my favorite era, the celts and Lakers always had a dog fight to get to the finals, with the sixers, pistons, hawks, bucks always giving the celts a run and houston always there. 3 Quote

Championships; Celtics- 18 Lakers- 16 Bulls- 6 Warriors- 5 (including Philadelphia Warriors) Spurs- 5 BTW, the Celtics, Hawks, Bucks, and Rockets ALL had a "run" in this year's NBA playoffs. In my opinion things are progressing in the right direction, towards a team game with ball movement and defense as opposed to iso ball and the "l'm getting mine" attitude (example: Indiana's blowing of a 25 point lead to the Cavs) of some players. You get get better by playing the best. And as of the last few years, the Cavs (not just LeBron James) have brought out the best of the Warriors and renewed interest in our favorite teams, players, and the league in general. Looking forward to the NBA draft. Funny how the Lakers and Celtics are picking 1 and 2.... Good fishing all. Go A's! JB 2 Quote

I get what you are saying as far as competitive balance around the league other than the contenders. It just happens that the contenders are pretty high right now. The league made a bad decision to allow all that extra cap money to come at one time rather than smoothing it out over a few seasons. I honestly think they thought KD was gonna go home to DC or to Boston and got bit in the ass when he went to GS. 3 hours ago, J._Bricker said: Championships; Celtics- 18 Lakers- 16 Bulls- 6 Warriors- 5 (including Philadelphia Warriors) Spurs- 5 BTW, the Celtics, Hawks, Bucks, and Rockets ALL had a "run" in this year's NBA playoffs.
