I am looking to get into swimbaits, nothing huge, maybe baits up to 2 oz. I purchased a BBZ 1 shad and a gantarel jr just as a starting point but found my 7'6" MH rod feels a little "stressed" with the gantarel jr. So my question is what would be some good rod choices to start with. Also any specific reel and line?

I have a custom build on a Saint Croix LTB blank that is perfect for this size baits - it's a 7'9" Heavy Fast.

Dobyns FR 795SB, 1-5 oz lures, 7'9", swim bait rod $120 is ideal for what you stated.

That's definitely in my price range, thanks for the suggestion!

Agreed. I own one, it'll be perfect for smaller swimbaits you're fishing.

You'll need a heavier rod if you decide to go to bigger baits. It says 5oz, but I wouldn't go much over 3oz with it. I've fish a 175 Slide Swimmer on mine, and it's stressing it to fish something that size.
