Hammer rods...tell me more

Hammer rods...whos using them and for what?  I'm looking at the 6'9" medium micro guide for top water poppers and a back up jerkbait rod but am curious what everyone else has experience with...i have read nothing but good reviews on them but have also read they run a power lighter then expected.  Is this true right now I have a dobyns 705 cb running multi duty can anyone compare the two

I'm interested  in hammer rod feedback as well. im thinking about buying one because falcon doesn't offer the exact rod im looking for so i'd love to hear others opions.

Great rods and a very good value at their price point IMO. They are made in America. They offer a 15% discount for current and former military as well. (Buy direct from them unless you're spending TW gift cards.)

 

I have their 7'-11" flipping stick and love it. I use it mostly for punching. Light weight with plenty of backbone and comfortable to use for long durations. 

 

I also have a 7' H that I use for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and some jigs. Very light, well made, and very sensitive. This rod currently gets more use than any other rod I own, including my high end Loomis and St Croix rods.

 

They also have solid customer service. I accidentally stepped on my rod tip while tying on a leader and knocked out the insert. I called them up and they sent me a half dozen tips at no charge. 

Keep in mind that their rods run a little bit lighter than the ratings of most other rods. Probably about a half power or so - if you want a MH get the H instead.

I'm using a 6' 9" H/F micro for bladed jigs as recommended by @smalljaw67 I believe. I was a bit nervous buying a rod with those specs for bladed jigs, but as stated I was assured they run lighter than rated and have a nice parabolic bend to them. The rod has quickly become one of my favorites and it fishes a bladed jig better than any rod I've owned. I will undoubtedly be owning more of their rods in the future. 

This video is a good example of what I'm talking about. I was fishing one of my bladed jigs 3/8oz and you can see how well the tip loads during the retrieve and transmits the vibrations well. You can also see how well it loads on the fish and isn't a pool cue like I was afraid a 6' 9" H/F rod would be.

Awesome video looks a little cold there but great example of the rod. Looks like it does load real nice.  Thanks for sharing

I have the 7'3"mh, 7'3"h, and 7'3" xh hammer rods. They are great rods and really sensitive. I started using them a couple years ago and was blown away with the sensitivity and lightness. I wouldn't say they are a power lighter. The parabolic action of these rods may feel a little light but they are appropriately rated in my opinion. The bend of the rods are similar to falcon rods and quantum exo and smoke rods. For the price there isn't a better rod. I use the medhvy for light swimbaits and swimjigs. The heavy is an amazing worm and buzzbait rod. the xhvy rod gets frog and jig action. All are paired with exo 100 reels that match up perfectly in color and make for some really light setups to fish with.
