Best shakey head worm

In our opinion, what is the best shakey head worm. I was gonna pick up a few packs of zoom trick worms, but I've heard the top of the worm isn't flat enough for the shakey head. If you could include the brand and color that would be great. Thanks!

Just pick whatever you want even crawls and beavers work well on a shaky head.

 

i like trick worms for dirtier water the big worm has a bigger profile so it's easier to see for the fish.

 

if I'm fishing cleaner water I'll use a smaller worm.

 

I've had success on trick worms, dizzy diamonds, plasma tails, any finesse worm, I like the zoom shaky head worm they have salt in them but the tail is tapered all the way down to a point so there's less plastic and salt at the end so it will sit up higher like you want when shaky head fishing and when you twitch it the tail shakes pretty good.

 

My buddy has used curly tail worms on shaky heads and has caught fish

Look on the package for the Original Trick Worm. It has no salt & will stand up better than the Super Salt Added ones. I just cut a 1/4" off the pointed head. I also like the Reins Bubbling Shaker but they are hard to find locally.

I like Z-man finesse worms, but they are tough to get screwed down on a shaky head.  A trick I learned from another poster on this site is to heat the coil up with a lighter.  The worm screws on easy after that!  They normally last until I lose the jighead to a snag.

Even if it did you can just tear/cut it to sit flat if that's what your "ocd" heart desired

It is easier to screw in the keeper on the jig heads. The Trick Worm head is kind of cone shaped.

I didn't mean him in specific. I meant anyone who HAS TO have a flat headed worm or they think it won't work on a shaky head.

My personal favorite are the zoom trick worm and the roboworm straight tails.

They all work but the Zoom Swamp Crawler is what I have been using lately.

The first shaky head jigs I bought I just thought they were a neat  weedless jighead  . I did not know they were shakey heads .  I used Trick worms on them and just used them like a regular Texas rigged worm .  Caught a lot of fish  . I still dont know the proper way to use them . I have a whole bunch   a guy made for me . i guess I need to learn the proper technique .  Nah , I'm good .

I am not too picky with shaky head worms, I use alot of trick worms but one worm that always seems to work well for me is the Big Bite Squirrel tail worm. I purchased these years ago when they were on sale at TW just to get to $50 & for some reason it seems to work better than most worms I have tried, and I rarely buy any big bite baits cause I never see them. Obviously I am not the only one too notice this since BPS added that worm to their line up and Big bite then created the double tail version. Usually worms that do not get much press in magazines get discontinued after a few years, its a really good worm with a different profile and look then anything else.

 

Lately I am into the ringed baits since they float and move differently, I like the Powerbait Rib Snake, Lunker City ringed worm, and if I am going with a big shaky rig, I love the Yamamoto Curly tail worms and Cut tail worms in 10-12".

 

I also love to use a Swim Senko on a shaky rig, this way I can swim it back, The Swim Senko catches fish on any rig, plus you can't fish it wrong, as long as you can cast it out, you get all the benefits of the Senko so you can just lift and drop or drag and do well.

Don't try it, trust me. Last time I try Yamamoto D-Shad I end up bought 5 more bags.

back to topic, I don't fish shaky head very often lately, but when I do I use anything that float, mostly Zman plastic, Zinkerz, Big TRD, Finesse worm and 4" Paddlerz.

Yamamoto Pro Senko or Kut Tail.  Can go all the way up to 7 inches.  I feel that a Shakey Head is a finesse presentation so I stay in the 5 inch range.  I also have given up on the Curly Tail because the tail gets bit off on the first cast!!
