Bass fishing is best Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I've been pricing out a decent rod for saltwater and landed on the Mojo Inshore. Comparing the weights they look very similar to freshwater rods. Do any of you use saltwater rods for bass fishing too? I'd like a pole with a heavier lure rating (whopper plopper) and it would be nice to have it pull double duty in salt too. Forgive me if this a stupid question. I have enough fishing gear, at this point I'd like any new purchases to be more versatile use. 1 Quote
KDW96 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Youll be just fine. Just be aware of lure, line rating etc. And your question was not a stupid one.:) 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 10, 2017 Super User Posted April 10, 2017 Yup. I am using a 7' ML Hurricane Redbone rated 3/8-3/4 oz. Must be an older model as I see the new ones are rated 1/4-1/2 oz. Either that or it is mislabeled. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Not only is it ok, it's a good idea. Thevrod doesn't know if your in salt water or not. 1 Quote
smr913 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Inshore salt water fishing uses a lot of the same gear as bass fishing. It just requires a healthy rinse off after use. 1 Quote
DaveT63 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 As others said, it will be fine. I ran across a St Croix Legend Inshore 7' MH for a steal, and I use it for my whopper plopper rod. Inshore rods are fine for freshwater use. 2 Quote
