Adleyfishes Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 While i was reeling in yesterday i noticed that for some reason my line was all coiled up on the right side of the reel. I pulled off the effected line and spooled it back on everything spooled correctly until it got to the right side. The line guide wouldn't move. everything is a mess. and as a kid and on a budget this sucks. can someone please help. Note: If i put my finger at the end where it reverses direction it stops it from reaching the end and spools somewhat correctly. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 9, 2017 Global Moderator Posted April 9, 2017 Sounds like the pawl went out. Wouldn't happen to be an Abu would it? I've had several go out in them. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 9, 2017 Global Moderator Posted April 9, 2017 You can replace the pawl pretty easily. I've done them by myself but you can get them done pretty reasonably. Quote
CTBassin860 Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 It hangs up on one side and wont go back unless you push it the other way right? Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted April 9, 2017 Super User Posted April 9, 2017 Another vote for the Line Guide Pawl. Super easy fix - do it yourself. Buy a replacement part on eBay for less than $5 and takes about a minute or two to remove the old one and replace with the new. Some reels/manufacturers are better than others about pawl wear, but I've replaced several over the years. Most all will wear down eventually. -T9 Quote
