New old stock Curado E

I found a new old stock Curado 200E is it still worth it's original retail price of 189.99?

Yes.  I would buy a few if they have them and hold onto them.  They are going for at least that price used.

See if you can talk them done some. I might pay $175 if I was in love with the reel and the breaking system. I remember buying mine for $140 new. I am sure for the collectors and buyers/flippers the reel could bring over $200 to the right buyer.

For me no.  There are more modern reels that perform as well or better and cost less or around the same.  There are many guys that believe that those wee the holy grail, just not me.

If you are buying them for yourself than its up to you. I personally think there are better reels out there. Namely th 70 I series. 

But if I could talk them down in price... Then yes. 

Back when the b series was discoed I came across a few leftovers that the shop owner sold me 90 bucks each. 

Two years ago I came acrossed a couple of g series piled up in an eBay pile at another local shop. I offers them 80 each cash and they said yes. 

Try, you never know. 

But personally I'm not paying full price for them

Definitely worth it if you like the 50 sized reels.  Personally I still have one and a Chronarch 50e.  Probably will never let them go cause you can snazzy them up.  However, I find the 70s better.

Those were the last Curados that had the "Made In Japan" stamp on the reel foot which carries enough weight for those to hold their value.

I paid on chornarch 50e new more than curado 70HG but that what I like. If 200 series I'd rather get 200i for 140 instead of 200e at 190. 

 

But I see 200e sold up to 200 in the meantime 200i used worth only 100. Go figure.

Yeah, the E series Curados are very forgiving with the braking system.  I have a mint 50e modified with a lot of extras that I probably will not let go.  I also have a 200e5  that I bought for myself after my first heart surgery.  (Had a 200e7 I sold to DVT.)

 

Great reels, but as someone said earlier for that $$ now a days, you can get lighter reels that will cast farther.  It is up to your worth for the reels.  They are bullet proof.

 

You have options in your scenario and that is a good thing.

I personally would be very tempted but agree that's a little steep- but the E series is my all time favorite reel. Get them spinning free and you're going to likely not find a farther casting reel for 3/8 -5/8 plugs.

I like my 201E7 a lot, but as already stated, I can't see paying $190 for one even if it is new.  I see they do bring premium prices on the used market.  I'd have no problem paying $150 for a new one, tho.

The 200E is a fine reel.  I have three and have done nothing to the three in terms of upgrades and all three are excellent cast distance reels, but one of them will just go on forever until I stop it with my thumb on a cast with a KVD Shad (3/8oz).   Go figure.
