CTBassin860 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Not to be confused with the Bass U.Its a fishing show on The Outdoor Channel hosted by Ray Brazier.Anyone ever seen it? Its pretty good, and quite informational. They usually bring on a company head and fish 5 bass limits as teams on their products.Last one was the guy from Spro and they were fishing the BBZ-1 rat.Check it out if you havent seen it yet. Super User Scott F Posted April 8, 2017 Super User Posted April 8, 2017 I was just talking to someone about this show. It is probably my LEAST favorite fishing show. For a show called "Fishing University" I'd think they should be teaching viewers. But they force the guys to fish only with a couple of the sponsors featured lures, not with the sponsors lures that might be best for the conditions. They have a little competition, all the while telling everyone about how fantastic the sponsors boats are and how fantastic the sponsors lures are. Then, the fishermen stand up in front of some school age kids and tell them to stay in school. Most fishing shows these days are not much more than an infomercial. This is nothing but an infomercial. Overall a pretty, in my opinion, worthless fishing show. 2 Quote
The Bassman Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Agree completely. The catch-22 is that you've got to have sponsors to finance these shows and it holds otherwise skilled anglers hostage to their products. Other discussions have addressed this. I'd really like to know the favorite products of fishing celebrities based on real observation. Never gonna happen, though. Quote
basscrusher Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Not only that, but the original host (Charlie Ingram) used to lie blatantly about his products, and think we wouldn't notice. Right after he got associated with Okuma (this was like 10 years ago) he did an episode on finesse fishing with the new Okuma VS spinning reel (their top of the line at that time). And he certainly did catch a good number of fish with that high-end, little solid black Okuma V series. The only problem is that the Okuma V series was silver...and he was CLEARLY using a Mitchell 308 or 310. I had to record it to show my friend, who also got a chuckle out of his "salesmanship." I mean, at least wait a few weeks to do your finesse episode until you've had time to get the new reels! Quote
