Culprit Red Shad is different now

I recently replenished some of my 6 and 7.5 Culprit Red Shad worms and found that they have changed the color at some point.

 

I have tequila shad as well, so that clears up any confusion.

 

 

"Red Shad" is now different. This new color does not work for me in the tournaments and my supply is dwindling.

 

Does anybody know where I can find them? Some tackle websites have never updated the color on their websites. When I think I'm getting the old one, I get the new one.

 

If you have newer package of these and think you have some old ones, take a look at the difference.

 

I don't understand why they would mess with such a popular color. I'm starting to think the only place I'll find them is a small town tackle shop that hasn't had to order them in years.

Yeah, the one on the right def doesn't look like red shad color. It looks more like plum or something. Might be time to find a different brand if red shad is your go to color.

Hmm, interesting. I bought a pack about a week ago at Scheels and it seems normal. Pics were taken on my phone in bad lighting but they are that deep red color. Maybe your pack was a fluke?

I may have caused some confusion in my original post. The worm on the right is the original color. They must have changed this long ago.

 

 

 

You would not believe how much money this worm has won me.  I have quite a few years of them left still. I must be sitting on a gold mine. 

 

I was only 4 years old in 1989 when the package in the picture were made. My Uncle taught me how to fish and gave me a lot of tackle and worms. He swore on his life about this worm and he was right. He must have bought out everything the stores had whenever they re-stocked this color. You can imagine how cheap they were back then.

That worm is pretty special to me. It's what my grandfather gave me when he gave me my first spinning rod setup and taught me how to bass fish. He swore by them and had multiple huge bass mounted on the wall that he caught on that red shad culprit.

Back in the 80 s thats all we ever threw.Always got a bag or two along still.I think your right the color has changed.Tequila shad was the go back then.

I would prefer the light purple color over red. You may need to contact a custom worm hand pour like Don Iovino or Josh Upton to make you a 100 ribbon tails the color you like.

Had (have) a lot of success with grape shad also.

The Culprit 'red shad' pictured above is all I've seen for the past 50 years.

The worm with the lighter tail just looks like it was left in the sun in a boat or something and faded, but I don't think the color has changed at all.

Put a couple in a Ziploc in the sun for a few days and see what happens

Yum Rad Shad changed about 2 years ago now that I think of it. More purple/pink. Doesn't work anymore either.
