CybrSlydr Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 So in my other thread, I've pretty much narrowed down the rod to either a Dobyn's Fury or if I can find a Fenwick AETOS on clearance somewhere. In the 1/8-1/2oz range for ned rigging, senkos, cranks, etc. Now I'm looking into reels and have noticed that Lew's bait casters are extremely popular but I don't see much on here or elsewhere about their spinning reels. Anyone have some experience with their spinning reels? Quote
CybrSlydr Posted April 6, 2017 Author Posted April 6, 2017 How about an Okuma Inspira? The -20 size looks perfect for this kind of rod. "And I even like the color" Quote

d-camarena Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 That mach 2 spinning reel would look awesome on the fury. Just sayin Quote

If you can manage to add 15 bucks to it you can get a Procyon for a shade over 100 which is an amazing reel. I cant comment on the Okuma as I stick to Daiwa and Shimano for reels. Quote

The main reason I was leaning towards the Okuma is because it's $80 on TW but Amazon has it for $45. For $45, I could upgrade the Fury to a Dobyn's Sierra rod I think. It's also black/blue - my favorite color combination. Quote
PatrickKnight Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 If going with the Okuma will allow you to go with a Sierra that is for sure the way to go. Quote

Well, I'm looking at either... Fury 702SF w/Daiwa Procyon for a bit over $210 or Sierra 702SF w/Okuma Inspira for a little over $200. So... Not sure which would be the better go. EDIT: After discussing with another member on here, I'm leaning towards the Dobyn's Sierra with the Okuma. Quote
frosty Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 In before the pflueger president crowd gets here but I'm still going to recommend the pflueger president, mines been a great reel. Quote
Robert Riley Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I have one of the older high end Lews. Its ok. Check out the higher end floogers 1 Quote
bassguytom Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I had a Lews spinning reel and did not like it at all. It felt tight not sure if I got a bad one or not but not buying again. I spent a little more and got a Diawa Ballistic 2000 and it is the best spinning reel I have ever used. Hope this helps. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted April 7, 2017 Super User Posted April 7, 2017 Okuma Spinning reels are actually very good. I had an Inspira and liked it just fine. 1 Quote
