Are the Megabass 110 jerkbaits worth the $?

Jerkbaits represent the largest category of lures in my "collection".  Although I was a HUGE LC Pointer fan, I don't think I have fished anything other than the 110 and 110 FX in the last several years. I like collecting them whenver I find a deal, but the truth is I have only fished a couple over the years. Maybe the others would work, too!

Are they worth $25? not for me, but they are worth $20 or less any day. I'm always on the lookout for them being on sale, especially if you can find a 2 for 1. Seriously though they are worth the $25 in my opinion. Personally I think the 110's are perfect, their action, the way they suspend, the paint, everything. I've used LC pointers and x-raps which have caught me fish, but smallies especially, seem to smash the 110's more so.

Absolutely true; jerkbaits are pike magnets.

 

For the waters I fish, with the exception of Mille Lacs, one out of every three fish that hit the bait are pike, and probably every third pike that hits bites the lure off. It's the biggest reason I don't fish them very often.

This nice little rainbow trout said it was "worth it" on saturday.....  problem is that about 30 minutes later i broke this beauty off on a snag.  i believe it was a ITO clear laker which is a nice color for some clear water fishing.

Not for me... all my favorite lakes have pike and tiger muskie. I'm not feeding those sharks $25 baits!! They can have my clunns and strike kings. My brother in law bought some 110's, they sit in his 3700 because he is too afraid to lose one, why even buy it? Not like they're collectors items, yet... haha

They are 100% deserving of their price tag (all MB products are deserving of their price tags IMO)...But whether it's 'worth it' is really more of a personal thing.  

 

They're not magic and on a good jerkbait day pretty much any brand/model will probably work about equally...But on those tougher days or when you need a better than average fish the 110 definitely seems to be a standout compared to others.  The fact that there are 130+ colors to choose from is great for people like me that like to get really specific with colors sometimes .  

 

If you're a big time jerkbait fan, I think you owe it to yourself to at least try one.

Might not change much. His Rogue's are long discontinued 25-30 yr old models. Not the same as newer ones. If you find any for sale, you'll probably now pay about the same as a Megabass to get them

I haven't bought a Rogue in over 25 years so all of mine are availble for trade.

It seems like once a guy wins on these old baits, their price rockets up on places like eBay and such. Think old Warts, or lead billed Diving B's. Many years back there was a run on old Bomber Long As when waking was the hot technique. The older models were made of a plastic that would expand when heated but not melt or crack. That allowed them to swell and stay on the surface better, making for great waking action. Already seeing a few vintage Rogues being pedaled for $25 a piece out there.
