I have been fishing the Stanley Ribbit frog and it has been working great for me. I would say its my new "Go To" bait when it comes to fishing a soft frog. The feet action is amazing and it also doesn't roll over as much as other soft bodied frogs. The only problem is the only place I can buy them is either at Cabelas/Bps (both about 1hr 40mins - 2hrs away) or online. Dicks, Sports Authority and other local tackle retail stores don't have them  :'(. Although what I have noticed is a frog that looks pretty darn similiar. I seen them at Dicks and if im not mistaken there called Shawgrigsby Toad. They look almost identical to the Stanley Ribbit. Do any of you guys know if these work just as well as the Ribbits? Ive never heard anything about em so im assuming they aren't to good? If they work just as well as the Ribbit I'll be set. Please tell me they do? :-?

Almost all of the walmarts around here carry the ribbits, sometimes not a lot of color selections but they do have them. Might be worth a shot checking them out.

I just purchased three spro bronzeye frogs: colors: green and black, green and yellow, and white and red.  It looks like a promising topwater bait for several of the lakes I plan to fish in NE Minnesota in a couple of weeks.  Last year I discovered that the hottest topwater bait for many of the lakes with lots of lilypads was a heddon's crazy crawler.  Of course crazy crawlers are somewhat limited to the outskirts of the pads, whereas the frogs can be fished in the midst of them.  I'm really anxious to try them, especially in one particular lake where we slayed the bass with crazy crawlers.  The only concern that I have are the pike.  I've read that the pike go nuts over the bronzeye frogs.  How well are they going to hold up after a couple of 3-5 pound northerns get a hold of them?

A year ago I switched to the Ribbit as my buzzing amphibian of choice. Last fall I noticed some of the Grigsby Toads at Dick's, so I went out to the car and brought in one of my Ribbits for comparison. Holding them next to one another it's difficult to notice the differences. If Ribbits became unavailable I wouldn't hesitate for one second to buy the Grigsbys. I'd be absolutely shocked if there was a whit of difference between them.

I would guess the reason you're not hearing much about them is for marketing reasons. The Ribbit came first and is much more well known in that design. You refer to them as a knockoff, which is probably right, but other knockoff products, like the many Senko imitations, usually offer the buyer something, like a big price advantage. I seem to recall that both these Toads are similarly priced and there's no reason I can see for switching, other than availability.

Wally World has the new ones also in some stores. They actually float saving all of that line to get them to the top + you can twitch them in the pockets of heavy cover (I may have posted this in another frog thread here somewhere) ;)
