Does Sunline not mark the halfway point on their filler spools anymore? I recently filled a spool on a casting reel, backed it with 12lb mono and then proceeded to put the Sunline on top. I guess I underfilled the spool with the backing line because I spooled about 3/4's of the Sunline before I realized that I won't have enough for a second reel or refill. Have you guys noticed this too or did I get a one off?

i don't know why i said Castaway , i meant Tornado , which has a marker at half spool and some varieties of Tornado has them at the third of the way of the spool . these are japanese domestic market lines by Sunline , do not know of any for US versions .

It's a good idea, just never seen marker on spooled line.

it sure would beat having to go to the park and measure off the half way of the spool !!! now i just will spool a reel full and keep the rest of the line on the spool for leaders .

I wasn't sure what it was when I first ran across it. It was a pinkish red coating on a small section of the line. Found out what it was when I read Tackle Tours review of the Armilo line.  I'm assuming what that review states is correct and it's meant to indicate the half way point on that filler spool.

Features: Armilo comes in only one color, grey, and one spool size for now (165yds). There are no special coatings defined by the manufacturer only to say it was designed by Morizo Shimizu as a nylon line with the characteristics of fluorocarbon. One curious feature of its packaging is halfway down the spool, the line has a section of pink indicator paint letting you know half of the line is gone so you can either stop to save the rest for another reel or continue on knowing there will not be enough left over for a different reel.

Tackle Warehouse write-ups say some of their lines have it (e.g., machine gun cast). Don't use Sunline, so can't say for certain. I do know that Toray SH Upgrade has a mid spool mark. Would be great in my eyes if more companies adopted this practice :)

Yeah, with all the high-quality lines out there to choose from, the one that marks the halfway or even a quarter points would absolutely tip my purchases in it's direction.

I had always thought all Sunline had that halfway mark. It's just what I have heard, I know Defier Armilo has it. I used that mark when I filled up one of my swimbait reels. Also I have only been using Sniper FC as a leader so I haven't spooled it up until recently, that's why I asked the question.

Toray has the 1/2 way mark.

buy a line counter for $15 and use it when spooling up, saves headaches and prevents wasted line.

never heard of it on any lines but I don't use sunline. I would definitely like to see that be standard for all lines though. I would be very happy to see that!!!

I just had a spool of Armilo Defier. I spooled on reel to the marker, then went to spool next reel and it was only like 30 yards. I emailed them and the response was there is no indicator mark... smfh

.... Idk last spool the "production mark" was perfectly in the middle to fill 2 reels evenly.
