BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 1, 2017 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 1, 2017 Have you seen echoMAP CHIRP series yet? Thoughts? Quote
moguy1973 Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 I have the 53dv with CHIRP on the bow. They are some of the best bang for the buck fish finders. They come preloaded with 17,000 lake maps in the US. I also have a non-CHIRP 73sv at the console. Quote
Sprocket Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 I've got the 73dv with Panotpix on the front deck, a 1042xsv and a 53dv at the console. Great units. SE Kansas grass grower Quote
Super User webertime Posted April 5, 2017 Super User Posted April 5, 2017 I've got 2 of the 73dv models. Great little units. Quote
jbrew73 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 i bought one and was really impressed but on my 2nd and 3rd trip out it started having problems and was constantly rebooting itself. i took it back for a refund. bummer seemed really nice. Quote
LoweStinger Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Just installed mine last week, I hope to get out this weekend and see how mine works !! Quote
Sturgeon Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Hope it's as good as all the hype. I just bought a 73cv for my kayak. I'll be testing it out in 2 weeks. My first depth finder too, so prob only thing I'll have figured out after a 5 day trip is water temp.? Can't wait to create new maps with the scanning feature since out of the 17000 lakes there's only like 2 lakes in Kansas that are loaded. I fish a lot of smaller lakes and I think this thing will be a game changer for myself honestly. Quote
Sprocket Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Actually there's about 50 Kansas lakes loaded. And yes, a lot of the smaller lakes aren't. The QuickDraw is a nice feature. SE Kansas grass grower Quote
Sturgeon Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Well finally set in living room with battery and your correct there are way more lakes than I thought. Of course a lot of them are unfortunately lakes I don't go to much. Really looking forward to mapping the ones out I do go to with the quick draw. So far the maps look awesome can't wait to hit the water now. Quote
moguy1973 Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Has anyone used the computer software to use the maps on their computer? I tried to d'load the maps to my SD card and when I put it into my computer it recognized the card as coming out of my finder, and I was even able to register my finder with Garmin, but the contour maps weren't showing in the program. It was only showing the global base maps. According to what I've read it's supposed to show the contour maps and I'm supposed to be able to place waypoints on the maps and then upload them back onto the finders. Quote
contium Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I would avoid Garmin if downscan is important to you: http://www.lowrance.com/true-downscan 1 Quote

That's a terrible approach for a big company.. This testing is NOT from an independent source and very bias. The units are not of equal models either. Lowrence put their top of the line against what ? They just say Garmin. I don't trust this video at all.. Most of the replies with people having both models tells a different story saying they prefer their Garmin over the Lowrance... Just seems like a smear campaign to me.. 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted April 9, 2017 Global Moderator Posted April 9, 2017 I received and e-mail from Lowrance that was pretty much a smear campaign as well against Garmin. Like LoweStinger said they didn't give specifics on the Garmin unit and it gave snap shots and I guarantee it wasn't apples to apples. I think it's pretty low of them too, to go this route. Quote
contium Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Why is it low? It's a selling point. Do some research on the issue. Lowrance claims have been backed up on various other forums. More than a few ticked off Garmin owners. Quote

lonnie g Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I would love to have one , but someone keeps stealing my money tee!!! Quote
Super User webertime Posted April 16, 2017 Super User Posted April 16, 2017 But then there's Lowrance's "customer service"... my buddy has made 4 calls to them, and they acknowledge it, nothing ever sent or any call backs. Not returning calls is a bad look. Quote
Ghostshad Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I got the 93 SV With chirp . Can someone tell me how to color code the water depth or where its at in the manual. Quote
Ghostshad Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Just bought my first Garmin & it has the EchoMap 93 SV with Chirp. Now for Lowrance , this is true , Ive never bought a Lowrance that i didn't have to send back & i mean soon. Now on the other side once it was replaced i never had a bid of trouble ever again. Looking to send something back when you buy it Sucks Big Time , but i got all of them on sale. CS Sucks . Quote
